Juliette Has a Gun Mad Madame really does smell mad and pissed off at the world. I have so much respect for a perfume that convey such emotion.
Mad Madame opens as an icy rose with metallic thorns. The rose in this is frozen and covered in ice crystals. When it begins to melt it releases a fruity-floral aroma. The flowers aren’t really distinguishable but the jammy blackcurrant is. There’s a bouquet of headiness over white musk. The dry-down is one mad patchouli… Continue reading | 14 Comments
“Demonic sweetness seeping from a gardenia petal.” That’s like the most black metal fragrance copy that I’ve ever read.
Illuminum Black Gardenia opens as a blue cheese-ish gardenia with this fuzzy peach. I can say that I’m smitten. I pick up on that tart, humid black currant. Maitre Parfumeu et Gantier Fleur des Comores is a tropical custard of banana-like white florals, overripe fruits and creamy vanilla. It’s more than another gourmand fruity-floral. This fragrance captures the realness of black currant and passionfruit, adding a musky-fruit atmosphere that makes this fragrance enjoyable.

When it comes to “absinthe” perfumes, I know what I want. In the past, I had no luck finding it. All I want is something herbaceous, cool like wormwood, and with a kick of licorice. I want all of this without it coming across as a “sporty” men’s fragrance . What I want is to be like a Mucha or Art Noveau absinthe sylph. Good news, I’ve found it. Aroma M Geisha Green, this is the only “absinthe” perfume that I’ve tried that has been… Continue reading | 17 Comments
This month Guess has launched Seductive a feminine woody floral amber perfume a scent that “teases the senses, captivates attention, and leaves a lingering sensation of addiction.”
Notes listed include bergamot, black currant, pear, orange flower, jasmine, Florentine orris, vanilla, olibanum, and cashmere wood.
I’ve always loved Guess ads with their 60’s va-va-voom tousled hair and sexy black eyeliner vibe reminding me of the iconic glamor of Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren. I’m always bummed by their clothes but the ads are lovely. I always get makeup inspiration from… Continue reading | 4 Comments
