ROSE WEEK 2017 – A Rose Chypre
It’s Rose Week on EauMG! This is the annual celebration of rose-centric perfumes! This week I’m reviewing 6 fragrances that display a different aspect of rose perfumes.
I’m not really one to keep secrets, but I do like a perfume that seems like it has more than a few secrets. Papillon Tobaccco Rose is one of these perfumes. It’s a dark “Neo-Noir” rose chypre that wears like a femme fatale peering out of the shadows.

Deco London is a new British-based niche perfume line inspired by London in the 1920’s. The brand currently consists of six perfumes (three marketed towards men and three marketed towards women). Constance is a floral amber that’s sure to attract patch-heads¹.
Constance opens with a mix of citrus peels.The scent has a sulfuric quality to it that reminds me of rhubarb and grapefruit peels. A camphoric patchouli is prevalent from the beginning. Are you ready for Round 2? A few weeks ago I reviewed three of the new six perfume oils from Providence Perfume Co. And here’s my impressions of the rest in this new collection:
Summer Yuzu with notes of sunflower, cedrat, aglaia flower, yuzu, grapefruit, tomato and frankincense

When guys of a certain age find out that I like perfume, they usually start asking me for recommendations. The conversation usually goes like “I’ve worn Ralph Lauren Polo Blue since I was a freshman in high school and I need an upgrade“. And I agree. They have real careers now and have already had a 10-15 year high school reunion. They need an upgrade from the fragrance with the matching “swag” gym bag their mom bought them in junior high.
