Rose Week: Feb. 7th-11th
I’m really surprised that I like Quel Amour, the EDP, a bubbly fruity-floral, but I do. It’s something that I have to be in the mood for, but I like it. It is really feminine, like a champagne cocktail. It’s pink frilly panties. It reminds me a bit of Jayne Mansfield’s ridiculous home, everything covered in shag carpet, everything pink, and heart shaped objects. It’s that girly.
We Three Kings Blogging Project: Myrrh
When asked to participate in We Three Kings, I automatically knew that I wanted to write about my myrrh of choice, Annick Goutal Myrrhe Ardente (Passionate Myrrh) from the Les Orientalistes Collection. I like Myrrhe Ardente because it is a comforting scent, verging on gourmand because of the sweet notes of tonka and steamy beeswax. Myrrhe Ardente is passionate. It’s voluptuous. The Goutal Sisters were inspired by 19th century Orientalist paintings of romanticized “exotic”, voluptuous bathing beauties (I’m thinking something… Continue reading | 20 Comments
This is the 4th essence in the Les Orientalistes collection. This Annick Goutal collection is inspired by musk and rose loving Qatar princesses, an “Orientalist” collection. The cool thing about this scent is that it lacks “top notes”. It also doesn’t get its muskiness from direct animal sources. Lately, I’ve been smitten by musky ambrette seed and other “musk” plant sources. I’ve been craving “soft” scents. Musc Nomade is the ultimate soft musk scent. It is my favorite “soft musk” perfume.
Musc Goutal is beautiful. Throughout the wear it smells… Continue reading | 13 Comments
Annick Goutal Eau du Ciel EDT is a delicate floral. It’s a crisp, floral, and powdery. It’s a feminine fragrance, but strange. Strange in that way that only Annick Goutal could create.
At first is is very green and crisp. It reminds me of “cut” flowers you buy from market. I don’t mean this in a rude way, but it seems almost like floral preservative mixed with bug spray. I guess what would be more accurate is that Eau du Ciel is grassy. It’s like fresh cut grass and flowers… Continue reading | 9 Comments
Annick Goutal Le Chevrefeuille EDT is one of my favorite honeysuckle perfumes. It smells like the real deal. It reminds me of lazy Southern summers when it is just too hot to do anything but sit on the porch complaining and drinking iced tea. Le Chevrefeuille is a simple scent. It’s a soliflore. It’s honeysuckle. It’s uncomplicated…and that is why I love it.
This is a dewy green honeysuckle. It’s a bit wet and green at initial spritz. If you’ve sniffed honeysuckle before than you… Continue reading | 10 Comments
