1950’s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Natalie Wood

I love “untouchable” red lips. Natalie looks stunning in this pic with minimal eye makeup and perfect, glossy red lips (with a hint of coral!). To get this look, do the following and don’t drink, kiss, or eat all evening 🙂

FACE: First, I applied Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Light (not pictured) with my fingers. With a foundation brush, I applied Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra in Buff 3. To conceal under eye circles, I applied Rimmel Hide the

1950’s Fashion – Get the Makeup Look of Lena Horne

1955 Lena Horne Album Cover

I have always thought that Lena Horne was one of those people that only became more beautiful with age. I feel she was in her prime in the 1970’s. But, she was always beautiful and here’s a lovely album cover of 1950’s era Lena Horne. This makeup look works for many complexions. Here’s what I did to get a Lena inspired look:

1950’s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Janet Leigh

Janet Leigh

I think this is a very pretty vintage look. It’s all about the glossy lips (that aren’t red!). This look will look great on most complexions. Here’s what I did to achieve a similar 1950’s pre-Pyscho inspired Janet Leigh look:

FACE: I applied Lancôme Absolue Cream Foundation in Ecru 10 with my Elizabeth Arden Foundation Brush. Under the eyes with my fingers, I applied Covergirl Simply Ageless Concealer in Corrector. With the puff provided, I applied… Continue reading

More 1950’s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Arlene Dahl

1950's style icon Arlene Dahl

I love this classic makeup look of Arlene Dahl’s. It’s just as elegant today as was in the 1950’s. A line of black liquid eyeliner and untouchable red lips are always a winner in my book. I’m calling this one the “cocktail party” look. This classic evening look works for so many complexions. Here’s what I did to get this 1950’s Arlene inspired look:

FACE: Arlene’s complexion is flawless. I’m jealous. With my Elizabeth Arden Foundation Brush, I… Continue reading | 5 Comments

More 1950’s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Diana Dors

So, it’s New Year’s Eve. I wanted to do an over the top disco inspired look, but this pick of Diana Dors is festive enough. And I’m staying home. That’s never stopped me before, but I’m just not feeling like it today. Don’t you think Diana looks blonder than usual in this pic? It’s verging on silver to match her top! Anyways, I do love this look. This is a look that does work well with lighter complexions and those with light brown, blonde, and even grey hair. Here’s what I… Continue reading | 10 Comments
