1930’s Fashion – Get the Makeup Look of Ruby Keeler

Ruby Keeler

I love this makeup look of actress, singer, dancer and Broadway legend, Ruby Keeler.  It’s from the 1930’s but it is still a great look for now. Here’s what I did to get this look:

Under the eyes, I applied MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC30 under the eyes with a concealer brush. With a sponge, I applied Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent. Gloria Stewart cigarette card

I love 1930’s looks, but there aren’t many color photographs of icons from this era, so, I’m desperate for inspiration and I’m resorting to using cigarette cards. I’m actually really impressed with this look. It’s something “modern enough” for today. Here’s what I did to get this 1930’s inspired look:

FACE: Hey, when you’re drawn you’re going to have the perfect complexion! But, we don’t have that going for us. I applied e.l.f. All Over Cover Stick in Apricot Beige

1930’s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Wendy Barrie

1930's actress Wendy Barrie

OK, so this picture is enhanced with color. I don’t care. Wendy Barrie looks adorable in her red polka dot dress and rich red lips. This is such a pretty dolly girl look. So, here’ s my interpretation of this 1930’s look:

FACE: The complexion is porcelain and perfect. I covered up imperfections with MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC20 using my Bobbi Brown Concealer Brush. With the sponge include, I applied Lancôme Dual Finish in Matte

This classic makeup look works for many complexions, especially light to medium with green, grey, or blue eyes. Bold lip colors really make these eye colors look bright. Here’s the colors that I used to get this look:

FACE: I applied Shiseido Foundation Stick in… Continue reading

Get the makeup look of Toby Wing

I love this promo pic of 1930’s actress and showgirl, Toby Wing. The colors are wonderful. Her outfit is very J.Crew, don’t you think? Here’s what I did to get this Toby inspired look:

To conceal under eye darkness, I applied with my Bobbi Brown Concealer Brush, Covergirl Ageless Concealer in Corrector. To set foundation, I applied Cover FX
