Sonoma Scent Studio Sienna Musk is a spicy, woodsy musk that doesn’t have any of the heaviness associated with spicy, woodsy, musky fragrances. Sienna Musk is soft, warm and furry, reminding me of darling little kitties basking in window sunlight.
Sienna Musk opens as this soft “furry” musk with this amazing sandalwood. This sandalwood smells luxurious and high-quality. The top has a bit of fizzy ginger ale that tickles the nose. It fizzles fairly quickly. Then Sienna Musk has warmth from spices and dry red cedar over this perfect sandalwood-musk. The overall effect is a soft, dry woodsy musk that is effortless to wear.
Sienna Musk is a SOFT scent (on me). It wears very closely to the skin, so much so that I often think it is my skin. Projection is below average with this scent. But, I’m not “deducting points” because of this. The scent also doesn’t last very long on my skin but there is that possibility that I can no longer “smell” it because I do get compliments on this fragrance long after I stopped noticing it. It really does become my skin.
Notes listed include musk, sandalwood, nutmeg, cardamom, ginger, clove, mandarin, cedar and cypress. PERFUMER – Laurie Erickson
Give Sienna Musk a try if you like sandalwood scents of sheer dry, spicy scents or perfumes like Jo Malone Nutmeg & Ginger, 10 Corso Como, Diptyque Tam Dao, Etro Sandalo, and/or Penhaligon’s Malabah. Sienna Musk is a unisex scent. I highly recommend it for any fan of musky scents. This one isn’t too spicy, isn’t too sweet and isn’t too animalic. It’s just right.
Many sizes of Sienna Musk are available. The 34 ml spray retails for $60 and is available at Sonoma Scent Studio.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – A dry, spicy, woodsy musk that is soft and furry. I see myself adding a full-size bottle to my collection. That’s how much I like it.

This fragrance sounds minimistically divine! I’ve been meaning to try Sonoma Scent Studio (hello…I only live 20 mins away from Sonoma), but couldn’t decide which until now!
Thanks for your excellent review as always!

I’ve been meaning to try the line for years and I finally have. You know how it is, there are so many things out there to try that it’s easy to miss certain lines. So far, so good. I’ve liked all of the 5 that I’ve tested. I can’t think of any other indie line that I’ve had such good luck with. This one is like you said “minimistically divine”. It’s easy to wear and it smells good. And I get compliments 🙂

Latecomer here, busy week…
This is one of my favorite go-to’s in my collection, and never fails in eliciting compliments. The nutmeg comes through in a grand way– not foody, but as a soft wood, and it lasts for 8 hrs plus without being overpowering. I’m not a huge fan of obvious musks, and it’s much more subtle and sly here.
I love SSS: the frags are very high-quality and lovely and old-school without being stagnant. She has some especially good roses and violets (I bet you would like To Dream). Plus she’s super-nice, and keeps her prices low by just having simple bottles and doing everything herself.
Great review, thanks for posting it!!
It’s nice to know that you find it long-lasting. Like I said, I think I get used to it. But, I know it’s there because people will say something.
I’m very happy to have tried this line. And yes, I do love To Dream 😉 Like you said, they are throw-back but modern because of their projection. I have found all of the ones that I’ve tried very easy to wear and full-bottle worthy!
I like Sienna Musk and in my notes I have that I planned to try it next to Tam Dao but I haven’t got around doing that yet.
I think SSS is an amazing line: I do not love all of the perfumes, but I like them all.

I no longer have a sample of Tam Dao. I wanted to compare the two as well. Can’t wait to read what you discover 😉
I’ve been very happy with the line. Obviously, I haven’t tried them all and I know that it is impossible to love them all but I like the ones that I’ve tried.
Other than this one and Fig Tree which ones have you tried?

Sienna Musk (obviously), Champagne de Bois, the tobacco one and one of the violets (can’t remember the name, very soft). Oh and To Dream.
This has all the notes I love. I need to try it.
Obviously I recommend it 😉
