Sonoma Scent Studio Amber Incense Natural Perfume Review

Sonoma Scent Studio Amber Incense

Sonoma Scent Studio is an indie brand that mostly has mixed-media offerings; however, over the past few years, Laurie Erikson has taken on the challenge of creating all-natural compositions. As the name implies, Amber Incense is an amber and incense perfume, but without using any synthetics.

Amber Incense opens with a fruitiness paired with honeyed sweetness that reminds me of cherry pipe tobacco. It then turns into a spicy, honeyed tobacco. Then it becomes true to its name. It wears as a smoky blend of amber incense. The resins are dry and golden. Frankincense is the most prominent of the resins on my skin. They dry-down reminds me of the brand’s Incense Pure; however, Amber Incense is sweeter with benzoin and a balsamic vanilla. Like Incense Pure, this is smoky without ever smelling like smoke. Amber Incense showcases naturally sweet, honeyed incense resins with cedar.

Amber Incense has a warm, comforting feel. As corny as this sounds, it’s like the perfume equivalent of getting a hug when you need it the most.

Give Amber Incense a try if you like sweet, smoky incense perfumes. Or if you like perfumes like Serge Lutens Chergui, Diptyque Volutes, Terveer Incense, Memo Lalibela and/or April Aromatics Calling All Angels.

Projection is average. Longevity is above average. For a natural perfume, projection and longevity are above average.

Amber Incense comes in a few sizes with the 1.15 oz spray retailing for $125 at Sonoma Scent Studio. Samples are also available for purchase.
