Happy Hanukkah!
Hänsel and Dreidel is a limited edition perfume in Smell Bent’s The Snowman Cometh Winter 2011 collection. Honey hounds, this is a fragrance for you.
Hansel and Dreidel opens as this really sweet, animalic honey musk. It actually reminds me of the brilliant but unattainable limited edition fragrance, MAC Africanimal, but on steriods. It’s sweet just like honey with some delicate spice and a base of woods. You do get a hint of whole wheat grains. The dry-down of Hansel and Dreidel becomes very woody. It’s sandalwood, lots of sandalwood mixed with honey.
Notes listed include wheat, honey, baking spices, sandalwood, hiba and musk. PERFUMER – Brent Leonesio
Give Hansel and Dreidel a try if you like love honey. This means that honey doesn’t go kitty pee-pee or powdery on you. This fragrance is all about honey, sweet honey. Also, give it a try if you like perfumes like MAC Africanimal (RIP), Etat Libre d’Orange Noël au Balcon, By Kilian Back to Black, and/or Serge Lutens Chêne or Jeux de Peau. I see Hansel and Dreidel as a unisex fragrance and as a more masculine version of MAC Africanimal because of the sandalwood base. If honey loves your skin, you must try this. I’m going to say it, I prefer this Smell Bent fragrance over By Kilian Back to Black (which wears as a linear honey on me). And this is like a budget SL Jeux de Peau. Seriously, try it if you love honey.
Hänsel and Dreidel has average projection and is long-lasting. Like I said, this isn’t a fragrance for most people because honey is tricky on the skin. And it’s a sweet fragrance. But, on me, this fragrance wears wonderfully. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves sweet, sticky, animalic honey.
I reviewed the EDT which retails for $45 for 1.7 oz. A perfume oil and a roll-on are also available at Smell Bent.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Whole wheat challah soaked in sticky honey over sandalwood. Honey loves my skin and I love this fragrance. I prefer this scent over By Kilian Back to Black. Shhh….
