Jungle animal trends are popular again this summer. MAC’s collection has that vibe and so does Smashbox. It only makes sense since safari prints and trends are so popular in clothing and accessories this summer as well.”Untamed” contains many pretty, deep, neutral shades.
FACE: There is a Creamy Cheek Color in Terracotta. This is a sheer color that is like the name implies, a terracotta. It can also be worn on the lips. It retails for $24. Sephora is offering a High Lights Cheek Luminizer. This is a long-wearing pink shimmer cream. It goes for $24.
EYES: There are 2 Waterproof Shadow Liner Trios. These are long wearing creams. There is Savage (yep, they went there); it contains a deep “jungle” green shimmer, nude champagne gold shimmer, and a deep chocolate brown shimmer. The other is Exotic; it contains a deep eggplant shimmer, pinky champagne shimmer, and a dusty mauve shimmer. Both are great for brown eyes, Exotic is great for green and hazel eyes. These retail for $29. The texture is OK but I must add that the lid be on tightly or these babies will dry out and be useless. That is the downside to waterproof cosmetics 🙁 There is a Double-Ended Eye Brightener. This is really a jumbo “eyeliner” pencil that can be used as a highlighter for eyes or face. It contains a pinky champagne and a soft honey gold (think Benefit Tequila). It is a nice product but I don’t think I’ll fork over the $22 for it.
LIPS: There are 2 Lip Glosses. One is Raw which is a shimmery brick red. I really like this one on tan skin. The other is Flesh which is a satiny nude that looks great with dark eye makeup. These go for $18.
I am truly apathetic about this collection. I don’t dislike it other than its offensive names (Flesh?). I’m not in love with it either. It is one I’ll pass up this summer. The colors are OK but I have many of these things in my collection already. I must add that I do find these great “colors” for medium to tan complexions. They aren’t the typical “bronzes” of the season but they still look summery.
