shu uemura’s Fall 2008 color collection is all about iridescents and their “layerable” properties. The company describes the collection as being innovative, modern, and elegant. It isn’t a bad collection at all, I just wouldn’t go as far as to say that iridescent colors are innovative or modern. They’ve been around forever and this is just another makeup collection featuring them.Regardless, shu uemura is an excellent line that I have never been disappointed by.
EYES: Instinct Fall Mode Makeup LE Duo Eyeshadow: These are eyeshadow duos that contain both a powder and cream eyeshadow to layer, wear alone, etc. I like these because I love to layer powder on top of cream shadows. It creates an interesting “texture” or depth plus it wears forever. You can also wear the powder alone and use the cream as liner, which I do frequently. Play around with it and see what works for you. It comes in three lovely shades. There is Mesmerizer which is my favorite. It is a smoky purple with a tinge of grey as the cream shadow and a smoky, dirty purple taupe shimmer powder. There is Mystifier which has a creamy black cream and a bronzey brown shimmer powder. Finally, there is Tantalizer which has a shimmery light mossy green cream and a super shimmery gold. This would look so amazing on natural redheads in my opinion. These little babies retail for $36.
CHEEKS &FACE: Instinct Fall Mode Makeup LE Glow On Blush Lust. These are soft shimmery blush powders that have a nice touch of shimmery design on them. There is Lust, a vivid shimmery apricot. There is Pulse which is a peachy pink shimmer and Steam a pale pinky champagne highlighter. The blushes retail for $21. The most stunning item in the collection is Instinct Fall Mode Makeup LE Luring Powder. It is a nude pink face “brightener”. It comes in a lovely black compact with a metal design. This lovely doll sells for $38.
LIPS & NAILS: Rouge Unlimited Crystal Shine Lipstick in Crimson Dazzle which is a super shimmery and shiny wearable red and Brown Dazzle which is a super shimmery and shiny natural bronzey brown. There is the Nail Enamel Supplement Mineral in Dark Wine which is a dark wine with lots of gold and silver glitters. The lipsticks are $23 and the nail stuff goes for $16.
The collection has a lot of items that I would find myself wanting to wear everyday. I love the shadow duos and the face powder. I find that this collection is very wearable for redheads, natural ones and those of us that use the bottle and turn out a little plummy sometimes. You can’t say that every collection launched has something for redheads too.
