Sasē Skincare by Fiafini is a line that focuses on “half the steps, twice the results” with multi-purpose skincare products. Overall, the line is highly simplified and currently contains 2 products that are supposed to the job of 7 products.
I’m the weirdo that actually enjoys having an extensive, exhaustive multi-step routine. However, I don’t really think it makes much of a difference. An effective skincare routine really doesn’t need 15 steps!
Claims: “Hydra-Purifying Cleanser 3-in-1 is a multi-tasking skincare solution that delivers the benefits of three products in just one. Use as your daily cleanser, as a natural exfoliator and as an express hydrating mask, all in under 15 minutes.”
How to Use: You can use this like you would any other wash-off cleanser. You can also use it as a mask by applying it to dry skin and leaving it on for up to 15 minutes.
Appearance, Scent, Etc.: It’s a clear gel in a pump bottle. This pump always dispenses the perfect amount of product. There is a light lemon-lavender fragrance.
My Experience: As a cleanser, it does a decent job if you don’t wear a lot of makeup. At night, I must double cleanse because of the BB creams that I use. This cleanser rinses off easily and doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight/dry. It doesn’t really foam (which is a bonus for me). I also tried it with my Clarisonic and had great results. As a mask, it does an OK job at moisturizing my super dry skin. I think it would be better for me when the weather isn’t 17º!
I tested the pH (which I’m not claiming has 100% accuracy. My confidence interval is like 90%). Without water, it is 5.5; With my Jersey City water, it’s 6.5.
So, let’s follow-up our simple 2-step routine with a cream:
Advanced Hydra-Illuminating 4-in-1 Skin Therapy
Claims: “Advanced Hydra-Illuminating Skin Therapy 4 IN 1 is a one-step skincare solution that delivers all the benefits of a moisturizer, serum, eye cream and neck cream in one application. Deeply hydrating yet lightweight, this sophisticated cream contains powerful antioxidants, peptides, probiotics, brightening ingredients and nourishing oils, and helps deliver collagen building benefits. Your skin will be rejuvenated, repaired and protected against environmental damage, dehydration and dullness”
How to Use: Apply to face and neck every morning and night.
Appearance, Scent, Etc.: It’s a thinner cream with an herbal rosemary/lavender aroma. The packaging looks like a jar but it has a hygienic pump. These are my favorite types of containers for skin creams. I have no clue why brands don’t use these more often.
My Experience: I’m so used to using lots of layers and then sealing my face with a thick cream or oil. I admit that I was very skeptical when I opened the box and realized this is a lightweight lotion. This is why you have to try new things! This lightweight creams absorbs very quickly but my skin doesn’t feel tight. In fact, it leaves my skin feeling like velvet.
But, I can’t break old habits. I figured if this was so good alone, wouldn’t it be even better with all my other layers? Well, I think so. I know the entire point of the is simplification but after a week I started adding my other stuff. Skin Therapy plays nicely with other products (no beading or weirdness). I have found that this makes for an amazing makeup primer. I mean, this velvety finish is perfect for that.
I’m now using it at night because of the lack of SPF. I have tried it under sunscreen and it did well with the mineral formulas that I paired it with.
Sasē brand worth checking out if:
- You are looking to add effective green/natural products to your skincare routine. This line’s products contain a lot of effect ingredients.
- Have a normal skin type and are looking to simplify your routine.
- Or if you like products from brands like Sunday Riley, Tata Harper and Indie Lee.
I don’t see myself breaking out of my old habits anytime soon, but I do appreciate this brand’s philosophy. I did appreciate it a few nights where I got home and just wanted to crash. Two steps are definitely easier than my usual 8+ nightly routine! I do hope that the brand comes out with a mineral sunscreen. I can try to be flexible in my thinking but I think everyone needs a really great SPF in their life.
FYI – This brand is not tested on animals and is free of sulfates and parabens. It’s made in the USA. The brand is based in Pennsylvania.
The cleanser retails for $45 and the cream retails for $110 at Sase by Fiafini. Travel/trial sizes are also available.
