After its 15th anniversary, Sage Machado has updated the brand’s classic Peridot perfume making this fig fragrance even richer than before.
Peridot opens as green fig leaves over a doughy, warm benzoin amber. It’s one of those more “coconut”/lactonic figs that bitter/green. With time Peridot wears as a rich, creamy amber with a skin-hugging musk. Because of the contrast of fig leaves and rich amber, I think of Peridot as a “late harvest” fragrance. It’s a fig fragrance that is cozy in cool weather.
Many years ago I tried the original Peridot but I don’t have a bottle to reference. From my memory, I can say that the updated Peridot is warmer and less fruity and less floral. And I’m going by distant memories here, but I prefer the updated Peridot over the original.
Notes listed include blood orange, fig, amber, musk, oak moss and vanilla. Launched in 2014. PERFUMER – Sage Machado
Give Peridot a try if you like sweeter fig scents. Or if you like perfumes like Lucy B. Green Figs & Vanilla Woods, L’Artisan Parfumeur Premier Figuier Extreme, B&BW Brown Sugar & Fig and/or Susanne Lang Vanilla Coconut. I view Peridot as unisex.
Projection and longevity are average for an oil-based perfume.
The perfume roll-on retails for $45 at Sage Lifestyle.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – A “dark” fig. I love figs and tend to like fig fragrances. I really like how this is a fig paired with a delicious amber; a fig that I can wear in cooler weather.
What a timely review! I have been working my way through a Sage sample set for the last couple of weeks. Peridot was my favorite, and my first FB from the line. I can tell your readers that this is a good example of a fig fragrance that people who don’t usually like fig (me!) would like. But I know how much you like fig, so I suppose people who like fig would like it too!
Great minds think alike 🙂
I really like Peridot and almost put that I think non-fig-lovers could like it but didn’t want to say that since I love fig 🙂 So people, do you see this! It’s a fig for fig lovers and haters! I look forward to wearing this one this fall.
It’s been a long time since I’ve tried these. I do remember (years ago) thinking Onyx was my favorite. And now sniffing this one, I imagine the two would wear nicely together.
