Ipo is the fifth fragrance by niche fragrance line, Saffron James. It’s “romantic and tranquil like a moonlit beach or a Saturday afternoon”, so the line states. The name, ipo, means “sweetheart” in Hawaiian.
Ipo is a floral perfume. It opens as this green violet and fresh rose. But, there is a fresh spiciness that reminds me of freshly sliced ginger. The rose warms up and mixes with fresh lemongrass. The ginger and lemongrass make Ipo “sparkle” like green tea fragrances do. My impression of Ipo is that it is a fresh floral with greens. And it continues to wear as this…fresh citrus-violet and rose with a heady orange blossom and a grassy lemon sparkle. The overall feel is pretty without being fussy.
I’ve tried other Saffron James perfumes and they last and last. I didn’t have such luck with Ipo. It wears for about 3-4 hours on me. But, it does have more “volatile” ingredients and lacks a “base”. And this time I’m trying the perfume oil and not the EDP. I would think that the perfume oil would last longer than the EDP…
Notes listed include Chinese violet, Moroccan rose, orange blossom, Tahitian gardenia, and lemongrass.
Give Ipo a try if you like fresh florals or refreshing perfumes like Origins Ginger Essence, Annick Goutal Un Matin d’Orage, Marc Jacobs Basil Sorbet, Fresh Citron de Vigne and/or Bvlgari Au Thé Vert Extrême.
Saffron James Ipo can be purchased Beautyhabit for the roll-on like I have pictured above ($38) and the EDP at Nordstrom for $85.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – A refreshing green rose floral with grassy green tea and lemon-like nuances. It’s light and good for summer or spring. My complaint is the lasting power.
