Roxana Illuminated Perfume Mellifera is one of those perfumes that smells like sunshine and green meadows. It has a joyful energy that radiates.
The opening of Mellifera is invigorating with what smells like lemon peel and iced seltzer water. It’s a cool, green citrus with effervescence. The heart is heady with a cooling ylang-ylang and powdery, pollen-y mimosa. Mellifera smells “yellow” with its huge yellow bouquet and lemon zest. The perfume is inspired by bees and that becomes even more apparent as the perfume becomes a honeyed floral. It dries down to honeyed resins that come across like frankincense and mayple syrup.
When I read the notes, I didn’t expect for the citrus to last through the scent’s wear. But, it does. It’s ylang-ylang and sunshine.
Notes listed include lemongrass, eucalyptus, geranium, ylang ylang, mimosa, resin, spice, woods, resins and immortelle. Launched in 2013. PERFUMER – Roxana Villa
Give Mellifera a try if you like citrus florals or ylang-ylang. Or if you like perfumes like LUSH Love, LUSH 25:43, Strange Invisible Perfumes Persica, Trance Essence Chen Xi and/or Tallulah Jane Misae.
Projection and longevity are average (which is great for an all-natural perfume). I’m reviewing the EDP but there’s also a solid perfume available. I haven’t tried it in the solid format.
Mellifera EDP comes in a few sizes with the 4g bottle retailing for $48 at Roxana Illuminated Perfumes. Samples are also available for purchase.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Sunshine and yellow bouquets. It’s the sort of fragrance that refreshing in the summer and uplifting in the winter.

Sounds like a slice of heaven Victoria.

Sounds lovely! It’s still pretty warm here so I wouldn’t feel out of place wearing sunny florals. Not that one should be held captive to certain scents being only to be worn at certain times but I crave anise and spices right now but it’s too hot! Please just give me reason to put on a sweater!
And I know it doesn’t list it, but yellow roses are my favorite so any perfume that can make me think of yellow flowers is delightful!
I feel like this has been one of the longest summers that I remember. I feel like I’ve worn (both fragrance and clothes), the same things for 5 months. I’m bored.
Yay! When I was writing this, I started to think about all the florals there are but how many of those don’t smell “yellow”. I can quickly come up a list of white florals, “red” florals and “pink” florals but it takes me much longer to recall “yellows”.
