For Fall 2015, Rituel de Fille has launched Night Visions, a collection inspired by “a collection inspired by this uniquely powerful moment of transformation, in shades that capture the final glimmers of light“. The collection consists of two shades that I think fit somewhere between a Poiret evening coat, Renaissance velvet with Medici emblems and Byzantine icons.

When I first saw this collection, I was thrilled. This is such a “me” collection. Since the late 90’s, I go in and out of what I call my “luxe velvet” fall/winter makeup phase. This always consists of soft shimmer eyeshadows paired with minimal lashes and a dark lip…with slicked back hair and oversized menswear. I haven’t done this look in a few years and with Night Visions, I have no excuse.
Ash and Ember Eye Soot in Sigil
Sigil is like a shimmering rosé champagne. It’s a pale champagne with pink that has gold shimmer. It’s one of those delicate “candlelit” shades. It’s ethereal.
Ash and Ember Eye Soot is a cream eye product that dries to a powder-like finish. It can be used as a shadow or liner. With this shade, I like to use it as a “wash” of color over the lid. But, it also makes a great highlighter in the inner corner or smudged along the lower lash line. Because of the packaging and the texture, I like to apply this with a synthetic brush instead of my fingers.
I’m in love with this shade. It’s amazing if you are pale and have light eyes. It really brings out the “green” in my eyes. It looks great alone or worn under powder shimmers to add depth.
On my lids, this color is everything that I’ve been wanting. It gives that “wet” lid look without looking greasy and also without creasing. I did not use a primer with this and had no creasing but keep in mind that I have dry skin and creasing is rarely ever an issue for me. If your lids are oily, you’re using a primer already.
And the name is pretty cool if you’re into magick and symbols. I love this brand’s aesthetic.
Forbidden Lipstick in Night Wanderer
A deep purple velvet with silver shimmer. Despite having shimmer, the shade has a matte finish. This is a full-coverage shade.
These dark lipsticks give me life. On me it’s like a prune with subtle shimmer. The texture is matte and long-wearing because it’s pigmented. I don’t find it drying but it’s not moisturizing either.
HOWEVER, this isn’t the easiest dark shade that I’ve used. It applies evenly but like its name, it’ll wander. It benefits immensely from using a lip liner or a lip primer. It took me a few wears before realizing that (you can even see it wandering in the photo below). And then I ended up using ColourPop Lip Liner in Feminist which I highly recommend if you like wearing dark shades like this. When I wear this with a lip liner, I have no complaints.
Ash and Ember Eye Soot retails for $27. Forbidden Lipstick retails for $23. Both are available at Rituel de Fille..
And here’s my Night Visions Collection makeup look. It took all of 5 minutes to complete:
FACE:
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard
Besame Violet Brightening Powder
EYES/BROWS:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Taupe
Lancôme Définicils Mascara in Black
Rituel de Fille Ash and Ember Eye Soot in Sigil
LIPS:
Rituel de Fille Forbidden Lipstick in Night Wanderer
HAIR:
Philip B Russian Amber Shampoo
I have a feeling I’m going to be doing this look a lot in the fall…but with lip liner. I seriously love these shades together so much – champagne and velvet. Sigil is going to be getting some serious mileage. I can already tell that.

What a great look! I wish I could pull that off. I love how your lips are in perfect balance with your eyebrows.
Thank you! I’m really liking the ease of dark lipsticks. It makes a statement without requiring much time 🙂 It’s oddly easy.
Stunning Victoria!
Thank you!
I know this is a few days late but damn, you were born to wear dark lipsticks.
Drop. Dead. Gorgeous!
Thank you!
You look gorgeous!
Thank you!
[…] Wearing (cosmetics, etc.) – I went through a few weeks of this month where I wore the same makeup look. This look was a burgundy smoky eye. I’d use a rusty burgundy shadow from a limited edition Lunatick Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette or MAC Eyeshadow in Sketch. I’d layer this over a Kiko Milano Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in Burgundy (LOVE the formula of these). I’d go light on the cheeks with a sheer stain (Benefit Benetint). On the lips, I’d wear ColourPop Lippie Stix in Tootsi (which is one of my favorite shades from that brand) or just lip balm (look above). My other makeup mood was sheer shadow and dark lippies using Rituel de Fille Night Visions Collection. […]
[…] 6. Rituel de Fille Night Visions Collection – This collection was my favorite makeup collection of the year. Night Visions has an ethereal, candle-lit champagne cream eyeshadow and a dark purple lipstick that smells like lavender. It’s perfect for grown up goths, the entire brand is really. Retails for $50 at Rituel de Fille. My review here. […]
[…] Rituel de Fille Ash and Ember Eye Soot – I’d say that the eyeshadow that I wore the most in 2015, was the pale shade, Sigil. It’s limited edition. I ended up picking up a few more shades. I wear them alone or under powder shadows. I love how they give a slightly glossy look, an “editorial” look. I don’t really recommend these to folks with oily lids. I have dry lids and these actually look sort of “anti-aging” and fresh on me. Retails for $27 at Rituel de Fille. Full review here. […]
