Weekly Cheap Secret:
I’ve been going through my makeup collection to remember what I really love. It’s easy to get caught up in all the new releases and limited edition business. (I’ve been inspired by The Makeup Snob.) One of my favorite pinks is a classic. It’s Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Cherries In The Snow. I know this retro shade of lipstick with its matching nail enamel has made Revlon lots of money since its launch in the 1950’s. This is a great 1950’s bold pink lipstick. Imagine a shade between a pink and a red. That’s called fuchsia 🙂 Many bloggers describe Cherries In The Snow as a red. It looks so pink on me (look at the pic below), almost an electric pink. It’s my vintage pink, my perfect 50’s fuchsia. It’s one of my favorite spring/summer pinks. In the summer, I won’t wear foundation/powder. I’ll do my brows, put on a little bit of liner, curl lashes, apply mascara. Then I put on my Cherries In The Snow. This is my 5 minute summer look like in the pic below. You can see the color and you tell if it is what you are looking for or not.
To the formula…I really like the formula. If you haven’t tried Revlon Super Lustrous in a while, you should. Yes, it used to have an unpleasant fragrance/taste. That is now gone. No fragrance, no taste. The formula is satin or “creme”. This has no shimmer but a bit of forgiving shine. This shine means that your lips don’t have to be perfectly smooth. This formula will wear evenly, even on slightly chap lips. Of course, all bold colors look good on smooth lips, but this formula is more forgiving. The formula is longer wearing because of the bold pigments (will “stain” lips). It isn’t drying and it is slightly moisturizing. It’s full coverage. What you see in the pic is one swipe from the tube.
It’s a great color and a great formula. I also like the budget friendly price. Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks retail for $7.99. It is available at most drugstores and Amazon.
* I was totally inspired by The Makeup Snob. She dusted off some old favorites too and found a roaring hot pink that retails for $2 & looks like Chanel Coco Pink! Can you guess what it is? Check it out here.
