Weekly Cheap Secret:
I love everything about this Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss: the texture, the formula, the color. I’m not much of a lip gloss wearer. I prefer lipstick or liquid lipstick. But, this is a lip gloss that I like. Do you know how long I’ve been looking for a perfect lilac lip gloss? I can’t believe I found it at drugstore for a price under $7. This is a very fashion forward shade and I’m so happy that Revlon released this shade. Somebody give Revlon a pat on the back for me!
OK, so I love purple lipstick, lip liner, lip gloss. It isn’t the most flattering shade on me but I like any shade of purple for the angsty drama. In my lifetime I’ve seen some great purple lip products come and go. This includes anything from high-end YSL to cheaper Rimmel drugstore makeup. I’ve also seen “weak” purples from high-end to low-end. I was skeptical when I saw this lilac tube of lip gloss sitting on the shelves at Wal-Mart. I’ve never tried Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss before. I do love the lipstick line… I decided to buy it because I have been looking for a pale lilac lip gloss for a few years now. Maybe this is what I’ve been looking for? It was!
The color is a pale lilac. It can be tame with one coat/layer but you can pack on the drama with a few more coats. It’s a pastel lilac like the name implies with shimmer. It’s a really cool color. I like to wear it “one layer” with an emerald or eggplant smoky eye. This is sexy. I also like to wear a few layers for a more intense lilac shade with heavier black eye liner. It’s edgy that way.
The formula is smooth and the texture is nice. It’s sticky like all lip glosses. It’s a heavier formula but not as thick and goopy as MAC. The formula also contains SPF 15. Bonus! And most SPF lip products make my lips uncomfortable. Not this Revlon one. The lasting power is decent for a gloss. I never have luck with glosses, but I found this one longer lasting than 80% of the ones I use. I like the formula so much that I’m wanting to try more colors in this line.
I find this color has lots of appeal. Just check out the other reviews below. Despite the “scary” color in the tube, the shade works for many different complexions. A sheer wash or one layer makes a lovely nude lip. More layers look edgy and unexpected. For those edgy chicks out there, this is the perfect gloss to pair with Lime Crime Lipstick in D’Lilac. I’ve also wore this color over a deep purple lipstick. Beautiful.
This lip gloss retails for under $7. UPDATE: Product has been discontinued.
