Ramon Monegal Ambra di Luna EDP Perfume Review

Ramon Monegal Ambra di Luna EDP

Ramon Monegal Ambra di Luna is skanky amber that has a nostalgic feel. It has a nostalgic feel, like finding your grandmother’s textiles in an old trunk that hasn’t been opened in years – a mix of woods, sweetness and mothballs. It’s a reminder of a time you never lived and a time that you seldom heard discussed. It’s a scent of contrast. Like grasping a tiny, faded rose print dress from a big, dark steamer trunk.

Ambra di Luna opens with white floral mothballs and a powdery amber. On my skin, this perfume is profoundly indolic. It’s jasmine blossoms with funk. The amber is powdery, soft and sweet, taming the insolence of the white florals and animalic notes. I always few the amber as sweet and tender, the jasmine as confident and audacious. The dry-down of Ambra di Luna is a soft, comforting amber with sandalwood that is reminiscent of pleasant sentimentality.

Wearing Ambra di Luna gives me those feelings of how we view the past of a life we never lived. Like thinking of someone we love, like a mother or grandmother, in a role that we never knew them as even though we know they lived that life. This is a perfume that many think of as sweet and powdery (and it is) but it also has another side. That side is luscious and animalic. Together these “two sides” make a complete perfume that is gorgeous.

Notes listed include amber, ciste oil, Egyptian jasmine, castoreum, and Mysore sandalwood.

Give Ambra di Luna a try if you like skanky florals or amber perfumes. Or if you like perfumes like Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan, Serge Lutens Sarrasins, Mona di Orio Ambre, Dior Mitzah and/or Armani Privé Ambre Orient.

I find projection to be average (above average in the early stages) and longevity is above average. I get over 14 hours of wear from this perfume.

The 1.7 oz bottle retails for $185 at Beautyhabit. Samples are also available for purchase.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONIndolic jasmine and powdery amber. I’ve already said that I think this is one of the best that the brand has to offer.
