Ramon Monegal Agar Musk EDP Perfume Review

Ramon Monegal Agar Musk

Ramon Monegal Parfums Agar Musk reminds me of leather gloves and fur trimmed coats.

Agar Musk opens with a laundered oud and nutmeg spice. In the background, there is a hint to new leather. Oud is not the focus with this fragrance. Only a “pinch” is used. There’s a bit of warm spices completing the dry woods and subtle leather. The musks are slightly fruity, warm and cuddly. Most of the wear of Agar Musk is dry woods, musk and a “fresh” vetiver.

Agar Musk is not a noteworthy theme but I do like that it is not oud-centric. This time it has been used to add a slight flavor, not steal the dish. The overall effect is something multi-textured and if it were a fabric, I’d never stop touching it.

Notes listed include agarwood, leather, nutmeg, vetiver and “musk cocktail”. Launched 2011. PERFUMER – Ramon Monegal

Give Agar Musk a try if you are looking for an oud that isn’t all about the oud. Or if you like perfumes like  Creed Royal Oud, Kerosene R’Oud, Sonoma Scent Studio Sienna Musk, and/or Tom Ford Oud Wood. Agar Musk is unisex. Even though I find it “cozy”, I think it works for all of the seasons.

Agar Musk has average projection and above average longevity.

The 1.7 oz bottle retails for $185 at Beautyhabit. Samples are also available for purchase.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONNon-aggressive oud, spice and musk. Agar Wood is “cozy” to me. It’s one of my personal favorites from the Ramon Monegal line.

*If you like the idea of a nutmeg-woodsy scent but aren’t a fan of the price of Agar Musk, try Sonoma Scent Studio Sienna Musk. They aren’t exactly the same but the theme is similar and I find that they both have that same “texture”.

    1. Me too. I find that I like oud used like salt or pepper. One thing about “trends” is that they die down but the stay around. We’re now seeing oud as an accent, a note in the perfumer’s organ. I guess the novelty has worn off for some perfumers.
