Ramón Béjar is a new Spanish luxury perfume brand launched in 2014. I spent 2014 overwhelmed by launches and this brand fell off my radar. I also haven’t heard much about this line. After trying Magnum Iris, I think the perfume world should get to know this brand in 2015. Put this brand on your radar because I have a feeling that you’re going to hear more about it in the future.
Magnum Iris opens as a bright iris with a modest sparkle of bergamot and raspberries. This gracefully accents a supple iris and sweet heliotrope. The heart of this perfume is a soft, cuddly iris with creamy white florals. The dry-down is a snuggly angora-like iris, warm white musk and suede. This perfume is like being wrapped in a luxurious iris shawl.
I know that it’s rather cliché to compare a perfume to “cashmere” or “angora” in perfume reviews, but Magnum Iris really does wear like being wrapped in an iris-scented angora shawl. It’s soft, comforting and tactile. I’d say it’s one of my favorite new iris-centered perfumes to launch in years.
Notes listed include iris concrete, bergamot, violet, white jasmine, ylang ylang, Hatian vetiver, sweet notes and musk. Launched 2014. PERFUMER – Ramón Béjar
Give Magnum Iris a try if you like powdery iris scents. Or if you like perfumes like Malle Iris Poudré, Tom Ford Violet Blonde, CREED Love in Black, Odori Iris and/or HEELEY Iris de Nuit.
Projection is average. Longevity is above average.
Now don’t get me started on the name. I love making a good Magnum P. Iris joke or try to throw a Zoolander reference into this review, but I didn’t. I wouldn’t say this is a “big iris” either. If it were up to me, I would have named it “Angora Iris” since I think that is a better fit.
The 2.5 oz retails for $295 at Osswald.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – An angora sweater-like iris – soft and cuddly. This is a really good iris that I’d recommend to anyone that likes powdery or slightly floral iris perfumes. Why did I have to fall hard for something so costly?
Hm, when I said I hoped you would get to your iris-phase soon, I didn’t mean that you had to come and hit me with a lemming straight away 😉
Haha. I don’t want a lemming this early in the year either! Especially one at this price…
