In a world where there is an abundance of vanilla perfumes, it’s a shame that there’s a shortage of good ones. Providence Perfume Co. is a rarity. It’s one of the good ones. And not just one of the good ones, but one of the exceptional ones. It’s everything that I want in a vanilla and then some.
Provanilla is an aquatic vanilla. It opens with a realistic blend of cantaloupe and honeydew melons with a fresh ocean breeze. Even if you don’t like the thought of fresh, dewy melons in your perfume, you’ll make an exception once you sniff Provanilla. It’s the perfect predecessor to what follows. Boozy, butterscotch-like rum and a rich, balsamic vanilla follow. I label myself as a “vanilla snob” and this vanilla snob loves this vanilla. It’s rich, multi-faceted and naturally complex. It’s like vanilla bean pods and the best vanilla extract. There’s an addition of coconut milk which brings out some of vanilla’s creaminess. The dry-down of Provanilla is a powdery, sweet vanilla incense.
Provanilla is like a Mexican-Caribbean vanilla. It’s high-quality vanilla, the breeze off of azure seas, aged rum and incense haze from iglesias.
Notes listed include five different varieties of vanilla, rose, balsams, myrrh, coconut pulp and aquatic accord. Launched in 2015. PERFUMER – Charna Ethier
Give Provanilla a try if you like fruity vanillas or like the thought of an aquatic vanilla. Or if you like perfumes like Malie Coconut Vanilla, The Different Company Aurore Nomade, DSH Perfumes Vanille Botanique, L’Artisan Parfumeur Vanille Absolument, Jane Booke Taken, Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Banane and/or Profumi del Forte Vittoria Apuana.
Projection and longevity are above average, especially for a natural perfume.
A 5ml bottle is available at Beautyhabit for $45.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Aquatic vanilla. It’s exactly what I want in a vanilla and then some. It’s simple; yet, it’s naturally complex. Cocoa Tuberose may have a competitor when it comes to my favorite from Providence Perfume Co.
