This autumn, Smell Bent, has launched a limited edition perfume collection inspired by the wild and wonderful Pacific Northwest. This collection is called North by Northwest and contains 5 fragrances. Living in Western Washington, yeah, I’m interested in this collection. I love all the smells of the area from Douglas firs to mushrooms that smell like apricots to fish markets. I love it here. It’s one of the best places in the world to get in better touch with your sense of smell.
So, Mountain High is obviously a little jab at the hippies, stoners and pot culture of the PNW. Oh, and at our mountains! One time, I innocently and accidentally got stuck in the middle of Hempfest. This is an entertaining story and one of those moments when I realized, “You’re not in Nashville anymore, toots.” Anyways…
Mountain High smells like Hempfest…weed. But, this isn’t straight up reefer. I get this camphoric and cool smell, more like menthol ciggies that have never been smoked. If you smell this fragrance up close, it reminds me of absinthe-scented mary jane. This top isn’t working for me. Eventually, this “settles” down. At this stage it reminds me of a man that has been smoking weed, the smoke on his clothes, the smell on his breath, but he is wearing Caron Pour Un Homme, LOL. And yeah, I like this mix of weed, lavender and vanilla. Do I want to smell like this? No. But, I really like it. So with time, this baby dry downs and it smells much better. It’s a little weedy but mostly a dirty patch smoothed out by the creamiest vanilla and tonka.
The issue is that I do like this fragrance but it smells like weed. If you wear this people will think that you are carrying a brick or have been smoking a bowl. So, yeah, don’t wear this to your next job interview. Unless your job interview is with Snoop Dogg and then this will earn you mega-cool points. I have enjoyed sniffing this fragrance but it’s not something that I’d ever wear.
Notes listed include fresh cannabis, balsam fir, lavender, vanilla, tonka, patchouli and sandalwood.
This fragrance is available in an oil and an EDT. I reviewed the oil. The perfume oil retails for $20 and is available at Smell Bent until the end of 2011. Keep visiting www.eaumg.net for more North by Northwest reviews.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Mentholated pot trying to disguise itself from your mom with a few too many sprays of Caron Pour Un Homme (lavender/vanilla). Would you like to smell like this? 🙂

How weird 🙂 No, I guess I wouldn’t like to smell like pot neither… But I’m curious to read your other reviews of North by Northwest.

I feel like if I wore this, I’d get arrested. Or it would be the one day I get pulled over with a traffic violation and then the cop would search my car!
It’s a strange concept for a perfume, pot. I don’t know if I would want to go around smelling like that. My boss would be suspicious!
Haha, I know!
