If you don’t want to read about how much I’m in love with this product, then stop reading now.
Paula’s Choice RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment with 5% Alpha Hydroxy Acid is a daily treatment for all skin types that claims to prevent and reduce wrinkles, sun damage, and discolorations. It’s an exfoliating treatment with 5% AHA and .5% salicylic acid with anti-irritant ingredients to reduce redness. So, does it work? I think so.
I consider my skin normal. I am concerned with discolorations and prevention of future signs of damage. Because of this, I have gotten “serious” about my skincare routine and I have added an AHA to my regimen. FYI – I have never used an AHA treatment like this before.
I use this Smoothing Treatment once daily at night. I cleanse and tone, apply the treatment and follow up with an oil-free moisturizer. Because this treatment contains acids, I wear SPF 55 daily to prevent sunburn and anymore sun damage in the AM.
My experience – I’ve had a wonderful experience using this treatment. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever loved a skincare product as much as this one. After one use, my skin felt noticeably smoother. After about 2 weeks, my skin was glowing. A month later, still looking good. I still have freckles but my sun-damaged dark spots (“pregnancy mask”) were much less noticeable. My skin is looking more like porcelain. I’m getting random complexion compliments from strangers. And I love that. And I no longer notice blackheads around my nose, even in the summer.
The fragrance & texture – This product claims to be fragrance free but isn’t. I’m sure there is no added fragrance. The product actually smells really good. It’s a faint Hermès-ish “Jardin Collection” melon. It’s faint and it fades quickly. But, it’s pleasant in my opinion. The texture is good, light-weight with a bit of moisture. I think oily skins could use this by itself sans moisturizer. I have worn this alone on really humid summer nights.
Who may like this treatment? Anybody looking for an exfoliating treatment to lighten dark spots and even tone. And anyone looking to find skincare that gives results at a low price point. As you can see, I’m biased by my great experience using this product. So, in my mind, I want everyone to try this product. I love it, but I know that there’s no way that one product could work for everybody.
Who may not like this treatment? I had such an amazing experience with this product that it is difficult for me to say. I know this product isn’t for everyone, nothing is. I’d say those that want a truly unscented item, may not like this. And I think if you have acne or really oily skin that you would benefit from one of the BHA treatments instead of this. I say that but I have read that some people with adult acne really like the treatment that I am reviewing. You may not like this product or any acidic product if you do not want to increase your sensitivity to sun (i.e. you’re on a medication, medical reasons, etc.)
I will continue to use this product. I plan to add to the Weekly Treatment to the regimen when I purchase the Daily Treatment. Now that I know that my skin responds nicely to AHA, I will add the once a week treatment.
I regret not taking before and after photos of this product. Honestly, I hated my discolorations so much before that there was no way I’d post a non-makeup photo of myself on the world wide web. I wish that I did. This treatment works and I wish I could compare a “then” and a “now” photo to show the results. Look at my Tuesday Weld look, this is my “after”. Yeah, I’m wearing foundation, but it’s a sheer one. And this photo was taken in natural sunlight.
The 1.7 oz. bottle retails for about $25 (a deal in my opinion) and is available at Paula’s Choice. Seriously, I have paid much more for products that delivered zero results.

I just ordered a sample of this. The rave reviews and the great price (and your photo yesterday!) won me over.
I hope you like it. I have never used an AHA treatment before, so maybe I’m just easy to please. But, the price is really good and I saw results within 2 weeks. Hope you like it!
Yay! I’m glad you love it so much. It really is a great product. Paula’s Choice is a rock-solid range for a good price.
It’s always wonderful to find a skincare product that works for you. And for once, it’s an affordable product.
OK, I’m going to try this. I can’t RESIST 😉
Haha!
Hope you like it as much as I do!
I must try this!
It’s an awesome product.
