Updated interpretations of “classic eau de colognes” has been a huge trend in the perfume world in 2015. And I’m rather enjoying this trend. I tend to wear a lot of crisp, clean citrus colognes in the hot months of summer. And in all honesty, I was getting a little tired of my rotation. I really do want something new that is still fresh and not overwhelming in heat and humidity.
The newest perfume from French-based brand, Les Parfums de Rosine is La Cologne de Rosine. It’s meant to be like a traditional cologne but with the addition of a rose garden.
La Cologne de Rosine opens as a mist of tangy citrus that gives the impression of just peeled tangerines and Earl Grey tea. These refreshing notes mix with fresh flowers. Because of the citrus and the crisp greenness, I’m reminded of Southern magnolias with a bouquet of fresh cut red roses. The heart is a radiant floral of rose and peony with green violet leaves. La Cologne de Rosine dries down to a delicate rose and soft white musk. It’s a fresh, clean base that isn’t laundry-ish.
I like La Cologne de Rosine because it is one of those perfumes that still smells like perfume that isn’t overwhelming in the heat. It’s much more floral and rose-y than any of the eau de colognes in my current summer rotation but it’s just as refreshing as my usual stand-bys.
Notes listed include bergamot, tangerine, rose, freesia, green violet, white musk, cedar and amber. Launched in 2015. PERFUMER – Nicolas Bonneville
Give La Cologne de Rosine a try if you like citrus florals. Or if you like perfumes like Diptyque Ofrésia, Ormonde Jayne Tiare, Detaille Cherubin, Sula Sun-Kissed Citrus, Clinique Happy and/or Tocca Simone.
Projection and longevity are average. It wears like an EDP.
The 3.4 oz bottle retails for 105€ at Parfums Rosine. I have a feeling it’ll be sold at US retailers soon.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – A refreshing floral cologne – iced Earl Grey tea and fresh flowers. It’s really pretty and it’s exactly the sort of “cologne” I’d expect from a brand that loves roses as much as I do.
