Rose Week 2014
When I received the sample of Parfums de Rosine Vive la Mariée, I thought, “What? They didn’t already have a wedding scent?” Les Parfums de Rosine is a house of pretty florals and romantic roses. I wondered why would they do a wedding scent now? Well, it ends up that the owner’s son got married last year and all of the wedding planning inspired a very special perfume.
Vive la Mariée is a musky pink floral. It opens as a neroli-peony that is bright and boisterous. The rose is prevalent as soon as you spray it on. It’s a “pink” slightly fruity rose with soft velvety petals that I perceive as “blush pink”. It dries down to a sweeter floral jasmine musk over sugar coated woods.
Now if you are looking for a sugary gourmand rose, this isn’t it. If you are looking for a romantic peony-rose, this is it. The main “theme” of this perfume is florals.
Vive la Mariee does smell like how we perceive the bride in our culture. Even if I didn’t know the story of this one I would have perceived it as a bridal perfume. It’s feminine, elegant, beautiful and innocent. It’s not one for me to wear, at least on a daily basis, but it’s not for me. It’s for the bride! And you know, even if it sounds cliché, I do recommend this as a bridal fragrance.
Notes listed include bergamot, neroli, lychee, jasmin sambac, peony, magnolia, freesia, rose, orange blossom, praline, vanilla bean, tonka bean, patchouli, cedar, musk and sandalwood. Launch date 2013. PERFUMER – Benoit Lapouza
Give Vive la Mariee a try if you like pretty florals. Or if you like perfumes like Juliette Has a Gun Miss Charming, Penhaligon’s Peoneve, Diptyque Eau Rose, Annick Goutal Quel Amour! and/or Jo Malone London Peony & Blush Suede. I perceive Vive la Mariee as a very feminine fragrance.
Projection and longevity are average.
The 1.7 EDP retails for 95€ at Parfums Rosine.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Romantic, blushing floral. Like I said, not one I would see myself wearing frequently. But, I do think it’s beautiful. The house wanted to create a pretty bridal fragrance and they succeeded. It’s a nice addition to Parfums de Rosine.
