When I want to smell “pretty”, I like to wear Les Parfums de Rosine. Their specialty is pretty, romantic rose-y perfumes. When the house launched Rose Nue in its pretty blush pink bottle with a jade green accent, I knew this was something I’d have to try. The concept, the colors…it all fits in perfectly with the Parfums Rosine image.
Rose Nue opens with bright aldehydes, similar to those found in perfumes like Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere. Rose Nue wears like a soapy, clean aldehydic floral. It reminds me of fancy French bar soaps. The heart is warmer, like a dusting of floral/musk talcum powder. It’s a soft, powdery rose that meets an even softer, more powdery heliotrope. The dry-down is a continuation of the powdery theme. It’s a soft, powdery white musk with powdered sugar and marzipan.
As I’ve mentioned in my review of Malle Dans Tes Bras, is that there’s an aspect of the “skin scent” where we have to depend on scents/notes we associate with functional fragrances to give the impression of skin. Rose Nue does this. Overall, the fragrance reminds me of clean, freshly bathed skin patted down afterwards with a big pink powder puff. It smells like how we’d think of the bathing ritual of a fancy woman, with a fancy vanity, would get dressed for a night out, or even a night in. It’s clean. And it’s skin.
Notes listed include aldehydes, Turkish rose, vanilla and musk. Launched in 2017. PERFUMER – Delphine Lebeau
Give Rose Nue a try if you like aldehydic powdery florals or like the thought of something “modern vintage”. Or perfumes like Chanel No. 5 (mainly its flankers), Nina Ricci L’Air du Temps, Divine L’Âme Sœur, Tom Ford Private Blends Musk Pure (discontinued) and/or Philosophy Pure Grace Nude Rose.
For something named Rose Nue, I expected a “skin scent”. This perfume has below average projection and average longevity. It is one of those “my skin but better” scents.
Projection and longevity are average.
The 1.7 oz bottle retails for $125 at Beautyhabit. Samples are also available for purchase.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Elegant powdery, aldehydic rose. It’s an update to a classic genre so you don’t need an evening dress to wear it.
