Aether Arts Love for 3 Oranges Perfume Review

Aether Arts Love of 3 Oranges

Aether Arts Love for 3 Oranges is a perfume inspired by Prokofiev’s “A Love for Three Oranges”, an opera based on an Italian fairy tale that premiered in the early 1920’s. This scent is like being immersed into an orange grove. It’s the fruit, flowers and trees.

Love for 3 Orange opens really does open with juicy oranges. This perfume reverses the usual order of a birth of an orange. It gives us fruit then the orange blossoms and lastly, tree leaves. This… Continue reading | 4 Comments

Etat Libre d’Orange Noel au Balcon EDP Perfume Review

Etat Libre d'Orange Noel au Balcon

I’ve never been a person that likes “Christmas” scents. I find them nauseating and honestly, I don’t have any positive associations with this time of year. I wanted to try Noel au Balcon for the nigella note. Nigella is a seed with a spicy, herbal “green” flavor that is used in Armenian string cheese. It’s one of my favorite spices. Because it has an “onion-y” quality*, this is why I suspect it isn’t used in perfumery. However, seeing it listed made me curious and… Continue reading | 6 Comments

Aftelier Honey Blossom Natural Perfume Review

Aftelier Honey Blossom

Aftelier Honey Blossom doesn’t remind me of one honeyed floral (i.e. honeysuckle) but it reminds me of a fantasy honeyed floral, something even more beautiful than what we could find in nature.

Honey Blossom is a gorgeous honeyed mimosa and lime. It opens with hay and sharp linden. The mimosa is sweet, honeyed, powdery. With time it becomes a softer honeyed floral that reminds me of fields of clover. You can feel the warmth of sunrays while wearing this. The base is a powdery, vanilla-like benzoin… Continue reading | 11 Comments

HEELEY Oranges & Lemons Say the Bells of St. Clement’s EDP Perfume Review

HEELEY Oranges & Lemons

Why does the name of this perfume have to be so long? For the sake of this review, we will call HEELEY Oranges & Lemons Say the Bells of St. Clement’s by the name of St. Clements. I can’t deal with typing that over and over. It’s a phrase that is more fun to say than type.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that this fragrance opens with citrus. It’s a bitter citrus with tons of lemons and then a fresh neroli appears. This isn’t surprising… Continue reading | 3 Comments

Houbigant Orangers en Fleurs EDP Perfume Review

Houbigant Orangers en Fleurs

Houbigant’s newest launch, Orangers en Fleurs is an orange blossom perfume. The house is rather classic with such fragrances as Quelques Fleur. Orangers en Fleurs isn’t a ground-breaking fragrance but it’s beauty and sophistication really fits with the Houbigant line. I welcome this addition.

Orangers en Fleurs is a big orange blossom with dewy rose. There’s a vague traced of frutiy raspberry jam. At this stage, it’s a “green” white floral with a little bit of citrus bitterness. The heart of Orangers en Fleurs is orange blossom… Continue reading | 11 Comments
