One ‘n Only Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner Review

One 'n Only Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Weekly Cheap Secret:

I got hooked on Moroccanoil at the salon. I purchased the Oil Treatment and decided to wait on the shampoo and conditioner. The line is expensive and I justified my non-purchase by the fact that I have a bottle of conditioner and shampoo in my shower already. But, after a group of autistic pre-teens I work with said that my hair looked like I had rubbed a balloon all over my head, I decided I needed to do something, OK, buy something to fix my hair. Eyeliner on a Cat suggested that I try a product at Sally’s called One ‘n Only Argan Oil. It’s been years since I have ventured in to a Sally’s. They are usually podunk little stores with horrible customer service. But, I trusted the recommendation source and I want a product like Morroccanoil that doesn’t cost $50 for shampoo and conditioner. So I went to the local Sally’s and bought One ‘n Only Argan Shampoo and Conditioner. This store actually had great customer service and I will be going back.

The bottle sizes are 12 fl. oz. (larger than Morrocanoil) and retail for half of what Morrocanoil does. The formulas are almost identical with ingredients “derived from Moroccan argan trees”. Yeah, it’s a nut. It comes from trees. Thanks, One ‘n Only. One ‘n Only’s packaging and scent are inferior to Morrocanoil’s but I’ll forgive it because of the price. And the fact that it is the best shampoo and conditioner that I have ever used.

I hate to do hair care reviews but I’ll do one anyways. Everyone’s hair is so different and the products that we love vary immensely. My hair is course, thick, straight as Bruce Willis, and prone to frizz. Currently, it isn’t color treated and I use heat styling products daily.

Argan Oil Moisture Repair Shampoo – The shampoo is a pearly white shampoo that lathers nicely and rinses easily. The shampoo is moisturizing and I think that oilier or fine hair could get away using the shampoo only. Or at least every other shampoo. The scent of both products is difficult for me to explain. It’s like a nutty tropical oil, brown butter, with a bit of saline. I’m not crazy about it until my hair dries. And then the scent actually smalls amazing with “hair”. The scent sticks with my hair until the next washing.

Argan Oil Moisture Conditioner – The conditioner is a white cream with the same scent of the shampoo. I comb it through and leave it on for about 3 minutes. This conditioner rinses easily and leaves my hair so silky that it is unbelievable. I have no tangles and no frizz. Seriously, no fly aways. As soon as I use a different married combo of shampoo and conditioner, the frizz comes back. So does it repair? Yes, but it’s a band-aid, a short term solution, nothing permanent. I also find the conditioner moisturizing enough. The line has a Treatment Conditioner for very damaged hair. I don’t think I need it. I’m happy with the Moisture Conditioner.

This line is formulated to hydrate, add volume, and gently cleanse. It’s safe for color treated or chemically hair. The formula is sulfate, phosphate, and paraben free. This is a biggie for me since I believe in the powers of sulfate free hair care.

I will purchase these again and when I run out of Morrocanoil, I will buy One ‘n Only’s Treatment Oil because my new Sally’s BFF that likes to talk about Tyler Perry plays said they are the same. I’m hooked on this line because it does what it claims to do and it is inexpensive (in comparison). My hair looks and feels healthy when I use this duo. If you like Morrocanoil, then you will like the generic Sally’s version.

Each retail for $9.50 and of course, are much cheaper with a Sally’s Beauty Club Card. And the bummer is that this line can only be purchased at Sally’s. This line is so awesome that it will make me go to a Sally’s again.

    1. I read your Treatment Oil review after listening to Eyeliner On A Cat and buying the shampoo and conditioner. I want the oil but I still have the Morrocanoil and it was silly to buy both.
This stuff seriously saved my hair! It’s so smooth now and looks very healthy. My hair is course and thick so using the conditioner daily is great for me. I get no build-up or greasiness.

  1. Thanks for this review! I hadn’t tried the shampoo and conditioner. I think I will pick up the shampoo next time I am by Sally’s Your hair sounds very much the same type as mine. I’ve been using the oil and I really like it. I found it after my hairdresser used the much more expensive Morracanoil that you referred to. I went searching for something cheaper and found One ‘n Only. It seems to give me the same effect, although I only say that based on the one time my hairdresser used Morraconoil on my hair.

    1. I bought the Morrocanoil Treatment Oil. It’s amazing, no doubt but it is expensive and I’d rather spend money on things like perfume and lipstick. I’m almost out of the oil and will purchase the One ‘n Only since I’ve been thrilled by the shampoo and conditioner. Reading the ingredients, they’re very similar.

  2. I’m so happy that these worked as well for you as they did for me. I can’t imagine using anything else now! The combination of using these two products along with Phyto 9 leave-in treatmnent has left my hair in better condition than it’s ever been in before.

    1. I’m so happy that you recommended this for me.
Haha, I use the Phyto Leave-In Treatment too! I use the Treatment Oil before flat ironing. My hair has never looked better. And I’ve stopped coloring which usually makes my hair shiny by sealing the cuticle. So, even without that factor, my hair looks great.

        1. Yes, it is very gentle. It doesn’t dry my scalp out or build-up any funky residue on my scalp. It’s seriously perfect for me.

    1. I think you could use the shampoo only every other day or so. It’s moisturizing and could be more like a “2-in-1” shampoo and conditioner.

    1. Wowza! That’s expensive but still cheaper than Moroccanoil.
I am tempted by the mask but this duo does such a good job. I’m thinking I may pick up the mask for the summer when my hair gets sun damaged.

    1. What do you think of the treatment mask? I’m tempted by it but this duo does such a great job that I don’t know if I need it.

  3. My favorite hair products! I swim daily and the chemicals kill my hair (and my hair is already color treated). This is the only products that I have used that leave my hair feeling soft and not brittle. I haven’t tried Moroccanoil but I don’t feel the need to try it. This Argan oil is so good.

    1. Good to know. Pools are so drying, so is salt water. I know I’m repurchasing. I love this stuff.

  4. A cheaper but equally good version of MOroccan oil? I’m all for it. I only recently purchased a bottle of Moroccan oil and even though I love it, I was a bit surprised at the price.

  5. My hair was horribly Fizzy and course as i color it and after using the one n only for about a week and a half my hair is so soft. I’m so glad i was recommended by a sallys rep, i actually saw improvement after the first use 😆

    1. 🙂 I saw improvement too after first use. This stuff is awesome. And if I switch shampoo/conditioner (still have some other stuff around) my hair is frizzy and doesn’t look or feel as good. I know I’m repurchasing!

  6. Argan oil is the best and effective hair treatment for me. Yeah, it’s too pricey but it’s worth it. Argan oil never stop giving healthy benefits to the skin.

    1. Whoo!! Sounds like it’s a winner for you. I love it too. Just replenished my “stock”, still love it.

  8. the last two cans I have bought at Sallys -one and only argan oil mousse has been nothing but fizz. I won’t be buying any more..

    1. Oh, that’s such a disappointment! You may benefit from returning them. It could be old stock or defective product. Either way, you didn’t get your money’s worth and should get a refund.
