Weekly Cheap Secret:
I got hooked on Moroccanoil at the salon. I purchased the Oil Treatment and decided to wait on the shampoo and conditioner. The line is expensive and I justified my non-purchase by the fact that I have a bottle of conditioner and shampoo in my shower already. But, after a group of autistic pre-teens I work with said that my hair looked like I had rubbed a balloon all over my head, I decided I needed to do something, OK, buy something to fix my hair. Eyeliner on a Cat suggested that I try a product at Sally’s called One ‘n Only Argan Oil. It’s been years since I have ventured in to a Sally’s. They are usually podunk little stores with horrible customer service. But, I trusted the recommendation source and I want a product like Morroccanoil that doesn’t cost $50 for shampoo and conditioner. So I went to the local Sally’s and bought One ‘n Only Argan Shampoo and Conditioner. This store actually had great customer service and I will be going back.
The bottle sizes are 12 fl. oz. (larger than Morrocanoil) and retail for half of what Morrocanoil does. The formulas are almost identical with ingredients “derived from Moroccan argan trees”. Yeah, it’s a nut. It comes from trees. Thanks, One ‘n Only. One ‘n Only’s packaging and scent are inferior to Morrocanoil’s but I’ll forgive it because of the price. And the fact that it is the best shampoo and conditioner that I have ever used.
I hate to do hair care reviews but I’ll do one anyways. Everyone’s hair is so different and the products that we love vary immensely. My hair is course, thick, straight as Bruce Willis, and prone to frizz. Currently, it isn’t color treated and I use heat styling products daily.
Argan Oil Moisture Repair Shampoo – The shampoo is a pearly white shampoo that lathers nicely and rinses easily. The shampoo is moisturizing and I think that oilier or fine hair could get away using the shampoo only. Or at least every other shampoo. The scent of both products is difficult for me to explain. It’s like a nutty tropical oil, brown butter, with a bit of saline. I’m not crazy about it until my hair dries. And then the scent actually smalls amazing with “hair”. The scent sticks with my hair until the next washing.
Argan Oil Moisture Conditioner – The conditioner is a white cream with the same scent of the shampoo. I comb it through and leave it on for about 3 minutes. This conditioner rinses easily and leaves my hair so silky that it is unbelievable. I have no tangles and no frizz. Seriously, no fly aways. As soon as I use a different married combo of shampoo and conditioner, the frizz comes back. So does it repair? Yes, but it’s a band-aid, a short term solution, nothing permanent. I also find the conditioner moisturizing enough. The line has a Treatment Conditioner for very damaged hair. I don’t think I need it. I’m happy with the Moisture Conditioner.
This line is formulated to hydrate, add volume, and gently cleanse. It’s safe for color treated or chemically hair. The formula is sulfate, phosphate, and paraben free. This is a biggie for me since I believe in the powers of sulfate free hair care.
I will purchase these again and when I run out of Morrocanoil, I will buy One ‘n Only’s Treatment Oil because my new Sally’s BFF that likes to talk about Tyler Perry plays said they are the same. I’m hooked on this line because it does what it claims to do and it is inexpensive (in comparison). My hair looks and feels healthy when I use this duo. If you like Morrocanoil, then you will like the generic Sally’s version.
Each retail for $9.50 and of course, are much cheaper with a Sally’s Beauty Club Card. And the bummer is that this line can only be purchased at Sally’s. This line is so awesome that it will make me go to a Sally’s again.
