NYX Green Spring Leaf Eyeshadow Trio Review

NYX Green Trio Eyeshadow

Weekly Cheap Secret:

NYX Eye Shadow Trio in Number 08 is an affordable green powder eyeshadow trio featuring the following NYX shadow shades: Spring Leaf, Lime Green, and Green Tea.

  • Spring Leaf is a muted Spanish Moss green with silver shimmer.
  • Lime Green is a warm medium green with gold shimmer (my favorite even though with the name one would expect something brighter).
  • Green Tea is a darker version of Spring Leaf, a muted Oak Moss green with silver shimmer (once again I don’t think the name fits, brewed green tea is “warmer”).
    NYX Green Eyeshadow Trio

Here’s how I wear the trio on my eyes. I am not using a primer. From lash line to crease, I have applied the middle shadow, Lime Green, with an eyeshadow brush. I also lined my bottom lash line with this shade with the included sponge tip applicator. In the crease I have blended Green Tea with a blending shadow brush. I also applied this darker green shade to the bottom lash line, halfway with the sponge tip applicator. Below the brow arch I have applied Spring Leaf with a slanted shadow brush. I lined my top lash line with a discontinued Lancome Artliner in Star Shower,  that is an almost black green with gold shimmers. You could use Sephora Metallic Eyeliner in Green for a similar effect. I curled my lashes and applied Maybelline XXL Pro Extension Mascara in Very Black.

Makeup look featuring NYX Trio Eye Shadow #8
The “complete” look

So here’s the complete look. I am wearing Every Minerals Blush in Theme Park, a super shimmery coral pink with tons of gold sparkle. I lined lips with Victoria’s Secret Lip Liner in Nude. Lancome Juicy Tubes Lip Gloss in Simmer, a warm natural peach shimmer, is worn over Shiseido Perfect Rouge Matte Lipstick in Wink, muted warm “nude” shade.

I like this shadow trio. I think the colors are easy to work with, they blend nicely and aren’t “chalky”. These green shadows work with many different eye colors. I actually prefer it on brown eyes. And this trio looks amazing on redheads. Trust me, when my hair is dyed red I rock this trio. These NYX eyeshadows do not fade or crease throughout the day. I think it’s an awesome palette. However, I find the packaging very difficult to open. I do not have this problem with all of my NYX 3 Color Eyeshadow palettes, but I do with a few. This one gives me problems. I would wear it more frequently if it was easier to open. Does anyone else have this problem?

  1. This looks really good on you! Seems like a nice palette for under $10. I haven’t used many NYX products. I have a few of the round lipsticks and they are hit or miss with coverage.

    1. Thank you 🙂
I think the round lipsticks are really nice. But, I do think some of the colors don’t work for me, so they seem hit or miss. I find that the really pale shades offer uneven coverage but I really should try them with a lipstick base.

  2. This is a great eyeshadow set. I love the greens. I have brown eyes and I really have fun with these. I mix the shades with golds and bronzes.

    1. That sounds really pretty. I have worn Green Tea and Lime Green with gold shadows before. It really works. I imagine this combo would look great on hazel eyes!

    1. I know. They are affordable and many of the colors are great. Usually if I don’t like one it is because it is the wrong color for me, not because it is poor quality.
