NEW: Aftelier Haute Claire EDP & A Fragrance Freebie!

Aftelier Haute Claire Natural Perfume

Haute Claire was detailed in The Letters of a Fellow Perfumer, a series of letters shared by perfumers Mandy Aftel and Liz Zorn that can be seen on Nathan Branch’s blog. It’s good reading and gives such a personal and artisanal insight of this new natural perfume.

Haute Claire is both crisp and soft, cool and warm. The fresh edgy greenness of galbanum is offset by the creamy floral of ylang-ylang edged with honeysuckle. The green and floral notes harmonize in perfect pitch, neither dominating the other. A warm base of vetiver and vanilla provide a soft finish of sweet grass.

Notes listed include galbanum, Mexican lime, wild sweet orange, ylang ylang CO2, honeysuckle absolute, ylang ylang extra, clary sage, vetiver, ethyl phenyl acetate, and vanilla absolute.

The 30ml spray bottle retails for $130 and a sample size is available at Aftelier.Β Β Keep reading, you may win a 5 ml πŸ™‚

    1. The scent of honeysuckle always puts a smile on my face! Sounds like Haute Claire is the perfume for you! You may like Wildflowers too πŸ˜‰

  1. I’ve never tried any of Mandy’s perfumes, but there’s always a chance for a first time. I’d like to be entered in the draw.

    1. I’m sure you’ll find something you like. I just tried Fig for the first time. I see myself wearing it frequently in the fall.

  2. Hi Victoria, I’ve never tried anything from Aftelier, but the description sounds very tempting. I’m especially curious whether this scent really is both warm and cool at the same time… Plus I love natural products!

I’ve also liked you on Facebook via my private profile.

    1. Like I said, it really is both warm and cool, very unique.

Thank you for letting me know πŸ™‚

  3. I haven’t tried any Aftelier perfumes yet, but I have been perusing Mandy’s website since I first read about Haute Claire. The description of the fragrance as simultaneously being “crisp and soft, cool and warm”, is very appealing.

The other fragrance I’d love to try is Tango.

    1. It really is both of those things! And it’s so difficult for me to describe. I just know I like it.

I need to try Tango too.

  4. I haven’t tried any of Aftelier’s perfumes yet but as soon as I’m done with trying to win this perfume I plan to buy Honney Blossom and Tango samples. First one because I’m still looking for the perfect linden blossom and the second one because of all the great reviews.

  5. I’m also an Aftelier ignoramus…hope this will be remedied through this draw! ^_^

  6. One of the most talked about perfumes of late! (i only say perfumes, because synthetic perfumes don’t exist for me….) the marrying of galbanum & ylang is enough to have me hanging out at the reception! thanks for lovely review and draw!

    1. Haha, I understand that!

I used to dislike both of these notes. That was until I started trying naturals. Now I love them and can’t get enough. The natural complexity of these 2 put me in awe.

  7. I love Aftelier! Isn’t Fig grand? It’s like caramelized roasted fig. And I have a tempestuous relationship w/Tango: sometimes it just refuses to talk to me…

Can i be in, too? Thanks (esp to Mandy) for offering it!

    1. Fig is delicious and dark and sultry. Still working on that review πŸ˜‰ I haven’t tried Tango.

      Thanks!

  8. Haute Claire sounds so lovely and I ‘d love to try it. I have a small sample of Honey Blossom that I adore. Thanks for the chance to try Haute Claire!

I just sent you some “love” on FB!

  9. I’ve been hearing about this perfume non stop! It really sounds astounding! I’ve been on Mandy’s site, forever trying to decide what samples to try next! SO many to choose from, it’s intoxicating!

    1. It really is difficult to decided with so many options and wonderful scent descriptions. She does a good job of putting her perfumes in “families” so that makes it a little bit easier.

  10. The reviews I’ve been reading of Haute Claire continue to convince me that it’s well worth trying. Even reviewers for whom it doesn’t work still speak of Mandy Aftel’s skill in bringing the elements together. And I have always liked galbanum (since my first sniff of Ma Griffe in the 70s) and ylang ylang and honeysuckle too (which I first remember smelling individually in solid format — I see Mandy does solid perfumes too).
I haven’t sampled any Aftelier scents yet, but I’m interested in Shiso as well and I would like to at least sample (if not wear) Cepes and Tuberose.

  11. I’ve tried 2 Aftelier fragrances so far, Shiso and Honey Blossom. I found both extraordinary and I’m having a hard tome coming up with reviews that will make them justice! I would love to be included in this draw. Thanks πŸ™‚

    1. I have to spend so much time “thinking” about Aftelier perfumes because they are so different in comparison to other perfumes that I have tried.

  12. I have never tried Aftelier fragrances. This Haute Clair sounds beautiful… I remember honeysuckle from the schoolyard in elementary school. Please enter me in draw. Thanks.

  13. I’ve read so much about Aftelier Perfumes particularly Honey Blossom, Tango, and more recently Haute Claire. Sounds just about perfect a fragrance this time of year. Cheers ❗

  14. I’d love to entered in the draw! I’m loving the the sound of the hot and cold aspect of this perfume.. I adore so many of Mandy’s perfumes and I am having a tough time deciding which mini should be my first purchase: I LOVE Shiso, Cepes and Tuberose. I won a mini of Fig which is a lovely, luscious fragrance and especially beautiful layered with Shiso. Tango is just so interesting and unusual and I love it as well. SO, too many lemmings as far as Aftelier perfumes are concerned..:)

The ones I want to try are” Honey Blosssom, Parfum de Maroc and Haute Claire.

    1. I love Fig! And Cepes et Tuberose!
I need to try Shiso. Especially since you said that you layered it with Fig.
      You’re entered πŸ™‚

  15. Mandy’s Fig is so wonderful. I am lucky that I have been able to try many of her perfumes since she has a retailer here in Seattle. I am so intrigued by her new scent. Thanks for the giveaway. I also follow EauMG on Facebook. Nikki

    1. Thanks Nikki!

It is nice to have retailer in Seattle. I also hear that her line will be sold on Bainbridge too, but the shop hasn’t opened yet, so I can’t check it out.

  16. Aha! I didn’t hallucinate. I was just in the wrong place.

I would love to try this or Tango, after having read so many reviews of late.

    1. My apologies for being confusing. I realize after doing the review that the pics are exactly the same in both posts :S

      Will enter you!

  17. It wasn’t really confusing; I just wasn’t paying close enough attention! πŸ™‚ Thank you.
