Victoria’s Secret Naturally Acai Berry & Magnolia Hydrating Body Lotion Review

Victoria's Secret Naturally

The Naturally Victoria’s Secret line is Victoria’s Secret attempt to tap into the “natural” market by emphasizing the power of natural ingredients. I don’t know how it is working out for them. I see the Victoria’s Secret market more interested in fragrance and they really don’t care about the natural ingredients as long as it smells good. And I see the natural market not caring for this line because it does come across and synthetic (because they are). And there are already lots of great natural lotions and body products on the market that the “natural” consumer is buying.

The packaging is made to look simple. It’s all in white and the font is classy. The fragrances come in pairs “to unlock the potential in nature’s most beneficial ingredients“, such as Açai Berry & Magnolia. This magic natural duo brightens (magnolia) and protects (açai berry). I don’t see a difference using this. It is a nice moisturizer. The lotion is lightweight but effective. It doesn’t feel greasy and it absorbs quickly. I like the formula for summer. But, if it claims to protect, wouldn’t it be nice if it had a SPF? And it claims to brighten, they could of put shimmer or something in there. I can’t say that it protects or brightens.

It also doesn’t hurt that the nature pairings that they use have a nice fragrance and are already used together in perfumery. This is a fruity-floral fragrance. It is difficult for me to describe it because it smells like a Victoria’s Secret store to me. It reminds me of how their products smell when you bring them home. This lotion has that “new bra smell”, haha. It’s a delicate floral mixed with tart berry fruit (think more of a cranberry). This isn’t a mind-blowing scent and I don’t love it. But, I do like it way better than the Secret Garden fragrances. These are simple and less abrasive to me. I find that this lotion is scented but it doesn’t interfere too much with the other fragrances that I wear. For example, I’ve paired this with Acqua di Parma Magnolia Nobile, Pacifica French Lilac Solid Perfume, Annick Goutal Un Matin d’Orage and a discontinued The Body Shop Magnolia Perfume Oil. They all layered nicely over this lotion. The lotion completed these fragrances.

My verdict is that this isn’t a bad product. I like the formula and the fragrance mixes with other products that I use. I like it for a Victoria’s Secret product, but I don’t like it as a natural product. I can find better scented and suited for me products. I like natural products because they smell natural, like lavender or rosemary. I like the light, fast absorbing formula, but I can get that in a drugstore lotion. I won’t buy this unless it is on mega-clearance, like under $5. I received a bottle as a gift. My name is Victoria and I always get Victoria’s Secret products as gifts even though I’m not wild about them.

You may like this scent if you like fragrances such as Versace Bright Crystal, Burberry Sport for Women, Ralph Lauren Ralph and/or Fresh Pink Jasmine.

UPDATE: Product has been discontinued.

  1. Nice post. I love this stuff. I find it fragrant enough to wear alone. That’s good for me because of my job.

    1. I totally understand. I am a therapist too. I choose to wear faint and close-wearing fragrances to work as well.

    2. ITS GONE!!!. . . lawwwd! Im addicted to the stuff and now its gone! I used the Vanilla Sandlewood fragrance. Victorias Secret always pulls a great product without prior notice. If you find some hiding somewhere let me know!

      1. The same thing happened to me. There was a scent, So In Love, I think. It was an amazing blend of Mysore sandalwood and rose. It was perfect. I go in to buy some and it was on sale and didn’t think much of it. Anyways, I go back and the gal was like, “that one has been discontinued”. Wish I knew that when it was on sale!
I’ll keep my eyes open for this one.

  2. I really like this fragrance. I wear the lotion and the body spray. There’s a perfume too but I haven’t tried it. I find the combo of lotion and body spray strong enough.

    1. I haven’t tried any for the “Naturally” perfumes. I do think the packaging is cute, topped with a bow.

  3. I got this as a free gift with purchase. I get compliments when I wear it. It’s OK, it smells pretty. I really don’t know why they call it natural! It has all of the same ingredients as their other stuff!

    1. Haha. I agree. It is a pretty fragrance and I can see how people like it. It’s very feminine but not overwhelming…hmmm…maybe that it is the “naturally” difference. Some of their other scents in their lotions are “loud”!

  4. i bought dis lotion today, my purpose being to lighten my skin tone. But wit d reviews i v read here, it seems i’m on d wrong track. Can anyone help me understand d lotion better?

    1. Personally, I didn’t notice it do anything for my skintone. It was just a basic lotion with a pretty fragrance.

What should help is using something with a high SPF every single day to prevent any darkness or spots. And at night use a body cream that has hydroquinone (if your skin isn’t sensitive to it).
