NARS autumn 2010 color collection is “Old Hollywood meets futuristic look”. Are we talking Metropolis here? Regardless, the concept is quite dreamy. I’m a vintage and sci-fi geek so the thought of this tickles my soul. This collection is all about the bold. That’s why NARS is one of my favorite brands. NARS has also featured his muse, Daphne Guinness. I really do like her, but everyone is making such a fuss that NARS named a color after her. Have they forgotten that this trend setter has her own fragrance with Comme de Garconnes? I would find having my own Comme des Garconnes fragreance much more of an honor than an eyeshadow named after me. No offense, NARS.
FACE: There’s Powder Blush in Douceur, a neutral pinky brown. This retails for $26. There’s a relaunch of Powder Blush in Nico, a warm brown. (This is one of my favorite blushes to use with a smoky eye look.)
EYES: There are 3 Single Eyeshadows in Daphne (a bold purple), Mangrove (sheer chartreuse), and Coconut Grove (deep taupe brown). These all retail for $23. I love the shade and the name of Mangrove. There’s a Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Palladium, a turquoise blue with silver glitter. This retails for $24. There are 2 Duo Eyeshadows in Rajasthan (metallic beige & black) and Tzarine (metallic gold & smoky grey). These go for $32 these days.
LIPS: There’s a Lipstick in Rouge Basque, a brick red. I love a brick red for fall. This retails for $24. NARS has relaunched Lipstick in Shrinagar, a metallic purple-ish berry color. There’s a Lip Gloss in Strawberry Fields, a bright berry pink. This goes for $24. There’s a relaunch of Lip Gloss in Scandal, a sheer red, one of my favorite red lip glosses.
I like the collection but nothing really screamed out at me. I do love the Single Eyeshadow in Mangrove . I also like the Single Eyeshadow in Coconut Grove, but I have things like it. This shadow also makes a wonderful natural looking eye liner and a brow powder. I really wanted to love the shade Daphne, but found it too difficult to blend and to work with. All of the other products/colors are nice but I have dupes like them. Did you buy any? What do you think? Is this really “Old Hollywood meets futuristic”?
This collection is available at NARS and Sephora.
I checked this collection out at Nordstrom. I didn’t buy anything, low on makeup funds, hehe. I liked the lip products the best. The eye colors are pretty but won’t work with my complexion at all.
I totally understand! I’m low on beauty funds too!
I’m attracted to the eye colors but I know I’d get more use out of the lippies.
