Barbra has always known how to rock the eye makeup. This is why she is one of the my top 3 icons She has inspired my makeup over a lifetime. I’ve been in a 60’s fashion mood lately and when I came across this pic of Barbra Streisand, I was inspired…again. This makeup looks amazing on warm skin tones. Here’s what I did to get this retro 60’s inspired makeup look:
FACE: I evened out the complexion with Shiseido Stick Foundation in o20. I then blended the foundation in with my Elizabeth Arden Foundation Brush. Under my eyes with a Bobbi Brown Concealer Brush, I applied Covergirl Simply Ageless Concealer in Corrector. To absorb oil, I brushed on a minimal amount Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent with mark Powder Brush. OK, I’m actually going to contour! I have a Japanese duo that is called “Nose Shadow” that I use for all my contouring needs. Mally Beauty Lift, Shape, & Glow is the closest product that I can recommend and it’s easier to find. I use e.l.f. Blending Brush because I like the size. I take the light highight shade and apply it down the nose and on the cheek bones brushing up in a “c” motion. I suck in my cheeks and apply the darker shade in the hollows of my cheeks. Following the contours of the nose down from the “end” of the brows, I apply the darker shade. If you have the Mally kit, apply the blush to the apples. If not, use a shade like Lancôme Blush Subtil in Miel Glace, a warm neutral shade.
EYES: Brows are simple. Brush brows in palce with a wax like Smashbox Brow Wax Tech. I patted on a small amount of e.l.f. Essentials Eyelid Primer since I’m going “heavy” on the eye makeup. With a fluffy shadow brush, I applied a “nude” from lash line to brows. For me this is is Lancôme Colour Design Eye Shadow in Positive. With an angled shadow brush, medium sized, I applied NYX Eyeshadow in Dark Brown. I applied in the crease and went out. OK, are you ready to rock? I took a wet art store liner brush and applied Clinique Water-Resistant Eyeliner in Natural Black. I started thin towards the inner eye and then got thicker towards the outer. Then I winged out. I then lined the bottom lash line closely but not completely. I stop where my lashes get sparser. I then make the line thicker towards the end, connecting both lines. Above the black line of the top inner lash line, I applied a gold eyeliner, L’Oreal Hip Chrome Eyeliner in Gold Charge. I lined the inner bottom lash line, connecting those two lines. I smudge for a softer look. I curled lashes and applied a few coats of Hard Candy Ginormous Mascara in Carbon Black (not pictured) to bottom and top lashes. I then applied Ardell Duralashes Accents.
LIPS: Lips are sheer and glossy. Directly from the tube, I applied Estee Lauder High Gloss in Honey, a sheer warm peachy nude with slight gold shimmer. In real life, it looks just like the color that Barbra is wearing. My flash really washed it out.
And if you are looking for a nail color like Barbra’s, I suggest Essie Nail Color in A Lot of Shekels, a sheer peachy-pink with pretty shine. Now for the awesome cube jewelry, I can’t help you there.
The fragrance to complete this look must be gold. So, I’m feeling Madame Rochas, a 60’s woodsy floral.
Do you have any weekend plans? So far, I don’t. I thought about going to Neiman’s to do some perfume sniffing. But, I have enough samples to try to catch up on here at home. And I probably should do something boring and renovating-like on the house…
Loving the lip colour! looking lush! Im loving this site too its very interesting!

Ahh!! I was SO happy when I found this(: Your post just rocked my world.. For days I have been googling 60s inspired makeup and Barbra has got to be my number one. Tomorrow’s make up for me will look something like this(: Thanks!!
Yeah! When I think 60’s makeup, my mind always goes to Barbra’s eye makeup. She’s one of my favorite icons. And her hair from this era was great too 😉
Ohh the hair!!! The only time I DIDN’T like her hair was the seventies…the fro thing just…most of the time wasn’t flattering:P But since we are talking about Hair, I think that retro hair styling should deffinitly be a post on here (Babs included)!! 😀 Your hair or GORGEOUS and I bet you could do some awesome stuff with it.
I sort of like the fro thing only because it was Barbra, if that makes sense.
I feel like I’m terrible at doing hair. I watch these Youtube videos of these girls doing vintage hair styles. They are so quick and consistent. I’ll pin curl or put in rollers and hope for the best!
Yes, you make perfect sense!! A star is born wouldn’t have been the same without her crazy locks 😛 Yes, best of luck to you!! I am on a mission also Lol..I am trying to find what hairstyle I should go for though. My hair is pretty lone:P
Love this tutorial!
