Rose Week 2015
It’s been a long time since I’ve reviewed a Montale and being that it’s “Rose Week” it’s time to pull out one of their many rose perfumes for a review.
Aoud Damascus opens as a citrus rose, not like freshly squeezed citrus but like citrus essential oils and roses. There’s some motor oil oud and black motorcycle jackets. But, I’d say that the rose is the star in Aoud Damascus. It’s like a rose in a biker bar. It’s leather, sweat and roses. There’s a sweetness to Aoud Damascus from balsamic resins. The dry-down is leather and sticky resins.
I guess Aoud Damascus could be viewed as rather redundant in Montale’s collection of rose-oud attars. This is a theme that they’ve done many times before. However, I do get in the mood for stuff like this every now and then. I like dirty roses and I like how this one wears.
Notes listed include Arabian oud, Damascan roses, oliban pearls and gurjun.
Give Aoud Damascus a try if you like “Arabian” rose perfumes or perfumes like Montale Black Aoud, Juliette Has a Gun Midnight Oud, Histoires de Parfums Rosam, Knize 10 and/or L’Artisan Al Oudh. Aoud Damascus is unisex, leaning more masculine.
Projection and longevity are above average. Being that it’s loud, I do get compliments on this one.
The 1.7 oz retails for about $120 on Amazon.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – A rose in a biker bar. If you’re looking for a “dirty” rose, this is one worth sampling.

Really, I’m wondering if Montale is exaggerating with the “aoud”-named scents. 🙂
😉 Maybe they think is in their brand name now.
