Merry Christmas!
We had a really laid back Christmas. Actually, this was the first time we even celebrated in our eleven years of marriage. I think with the big changes that occurred with the move, we felt this need to grasp onto something familiar, like a tradition. David actually bought a little blue tree and covered it with little blue glitter ornaments and a little white star. I joke that the capitalism of New York will eventually consume you…and it does. For the first time ever, I was really into the camp of Christmas decor. Like everyone, I gawked at the department store window displays and abundance of lights. The city that I thought I loved made me love the holiday that I thought I hated.
Did Santa leave you any smellies? Did you get what was on your list? I didn’t get anything perfume related (mainly because I buy myself that stuff). David did get me little Spanish orange blossom soaps, a lovely celadon green robe, leather opera gloves and a nice piece of Lapid Israel pottery (to keep my others company). It’s been nine months, but this place in New Jersey is finally feeling like home. And the little things like pottery and fancy soaps are finally making it feel that way. Also, a good holiday home fragrance like Belle Fleur Nazará is making this place feel like home. Never underestimate the comfort of ambient home fragrances.
I hope you all are having a lovely weekend. We’ve almost survived all the holidays, one more week to go! It’s been such a busy month that I actually look forward to January! I hope to post my “Best of” lists up before 2016, as well as my “Reader’s Choice” poll.

Hello Victoria, I think that it is very natural to want to establish Traditions. Especially as we get older. My husband and I don’t exchange every year. He’s a contractor so he’ll lure me in with the suggestion of home improvements rather than exchanging gifts. Although I didn’t get any fumes as gifts, I bought several for myself.
I sold some of my unloved bottles on the bay during December so I splurged on a several new bottles that I’ve been wanting. I found a bottle of Beloved at a discounter at half price and I also bought Indochine, Equistrius…another great sale, Rose Boheme and a vintage bottle of L’Heure Bleue. So now I’m on a perfume no buy for the foreseeable future.
The only other thing I may still get is a gorgeous rose oil body scrub make by Charna at Providence Perfume. I actually prefer to use it like bath salts. It smells fantastic and leaves my skin very soft.

I’d trade home improvements for any wrapped gifts any day! We rent but David painted the hall a few weekends ago. That was the best gift. I didn’t realize how much that would improve my mood.
You’ve reminded me that I really, really need to go through and purge my collection and make some room for old and new loves. I need some room in case I come across any of those sweet deals!
These days, I rarely buy because of space and money. I try to keep it down to 4 bottles a year (one a season).

Merry Christmas! I also embraced the holidays with a little more enthusiasm and went with the flow, if things didn’t happen or stuff didn’t get done I brushed it off. I bought a Rose Jam shower gel which I love. My husband received a shower gel from Bath and Body works which smells very close to Tom Ford Oud Wood. I received Misha, Bulgari’s Blue Tea fragrance and Lazy Sunday Morning. I wish Lazy Sunday Morning came in a shower gel. I also received as a gift a sampler of fragrances from a retail store in LA with a gift certificate to purchase a fragrance. And socks (it’s a family joke). I didn’t expect or what anything this year. I’m grateful for the family and friends I have. Thank you for writing this blog. It’s a small gift you give that brings happiness to everyone.

I’m really curious about the B&BW one. I like Oud Wood but the price is off-putting, especially for a rather simple/linear scent.
