Krigler Ultra Chateau Krigler 212 EDP Perfume Review

212 Chateau Krigler perfume

Krigler perfume is an old perfume house located in Monaco and in NYC at The Plaza Hotel. It’s a historic luxury perfume line. And I admit that I’m embarassed that I’m now just trying them.

Ultra Chaeau Krigler 212 is inspired by contemporary Manhattan but I find the scent very retro and that isn’t a bad thing at all. It is inspired by one of their vintage fragrances. Ultra Chateau Krigler 212 opens with clean florals and tons of aldehydes. The scent is an “old-fashioned” version of clean with violet, rose, lily of the valley and dry, sparkling aldehydes. It reminds me of those wonderful “soapy” florals of the 1970’s. In the heart, I get a spicy lilac with a jasmine soap bar over a dry, astringent cedar. The dry-down is a clean floral musk. Overall, it’s a “dazzling” fragrance.

Notes listed include lily of the valley, iris, magnolia, violet, rose, aldehydes, musk, champaca, jasmine, ylang ylang, lilac, amber, cedar, and damascus plum.

Give Krigler Ultra Cheateau Krigler 212 a try if you like aldehydic florals or 1970’s-1980’s florals. Try it if you like Chanel No. 5 EDT, Tommi Sooni Jinx, Van Cleef & Arpels First EDT, YSL Y, Bourbon French Parfums Perfume of Paradise, original Oscar, and/or Estee Lauder Estee Super Cologne Spray.

Chateau Krigler 212 has average projection and below average longevity in my opinion.

Ultra Chateau Krigler 212 is available in 2 sizes (1.7 oz and 3.4 oz) with prices ranging from $235-$325 at Krigler New York City.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONA clean, aldehydic floral with a retro feel. I like it but I’m turned off by the luxury price point. Maybe that is why I haven’t tried the brand until now…

        1. One of the blog posts I linked to said that the brand was the “most famous perfume line you’ve never heard of”. Or something like that. I agree.

  1. […] Ultra Chateau Krigler 212 (created, presumably, in 2012) is supposed to be an aldehydic floral, but I struggle to think of it as such because the prominent rose, lily of the valley, and aldehydic notes are almost transformed by a big gin-and-tonic accord. There is nothing like a bracing slug of quinine to make lily of the valley less insipid, right? The last time I wore Ultra Chateau, I ran across Blacknall Allen’s post on “bitter chypre martinis” and decided it could be an honorary member of that club.
