Juliette Has a Gun Mad Madame EDP Perfume Review

Juliette Has a Gun Mad Madame

Juliette Has a Gun Mad Madame really does smell mad and pissed off at the world. I have so much respect for a perfume that convey such emotion.

Mad Madame opens as an icy rose with metallic thorns. The rose in this is frozen and covered in ice crystals. When it begins to melt it releases a fruity-floral aroma. The flowers aren’t really distinguishable but the jammy blackcurrant is. There’s a bouquet of headiness over white musk. The dry-down is one mad patchouli trying to be comforted by vanilla. This is one pissed off chypre.

Phyllis Haver

Notes listed include rose oxyde, blackcurrant bud, ambroxon, amber, peony, patchouli, tuberose, moss, jasmine, white musk, tolu balsam, vanilla absolute, and castoreum. Launch date 2012.

Give it a try if you are looking for “dark” rose. Or if you like perfumes like Juliette Has a Gun Lady Vengeance  Diptyque Eau Rose (MM’s sweet baby sis), L’Artisan Parfumeur Voleur de Roses, Montale Black Aoud and/or Histoires de Parfums Rosam. She may have “Madame” in her name, but this is a unisex rose.

Mad Madame comes in 2 sizes with prices ranging from $105-$135 at Beautyhabit and Amazon. Samples are also available for purchase. Sometimes you can find it at discounters like FragranceX.com.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONOne mad as hell blackcurrant floral backed by her homegirl patchouli. Mad Madame never warmed up to me but I warmed up to her after a few wears.

  1. I probably won’t try this perfume (it sounds too similar to other fragrances I have) but I sure got a laugh from your review. Your words and the photo you picked were just perfect.

    1. I’m still trying to decide if I want a bottle or not. I mean I do like it. It’s an updated chypre and it’s mad as hell. I don’t have any mad perfumes in my collection.

I’ve found over time that when I’m pissed off and if I just happen to be doing my makeup, I wear what the hubs as dubbed as “mad eyeliner”. I think I need a perfume equivalent of “mad eyeliner”. Yeah, I have rose chypres, but I like the thought of this one.
