Juara Sweet Black Tea & Ginger Mattefying Moisturizer Review

Are you worried about breakouts and signs of aging? Many people are. So many of my friends use anti-aging products and acne products. Unfortunately, excessive oily skin isn’t just for teenagers. It’s a cruel world!  Juara Skincare Black Tea & Ginger Mattefying Moisturizer is an oil-free moisturizer that helps with signs of aging. This is a moisturizer for those that have oily/troubled skin but have concerns about aging/fine lines. Key ingredients include: cinnamon, ginger, hyluronic acid, and sweet black tea.

My experience: I have normal skin and few concerns (at this stage in my life). However, in the summer my skin gets oily. My skin has really been acting out! Recently, I have been getting blackheads around and on my nose. I’ve never had those before! I have sampled Juara Sweet Tea & Ginger Mattefying Moisturizer on my usually well-behaved skin.  The formula is a gel-creme. I can barely feel it on my skin because it is light-weight and absorbs rapidly. My skin is left moisturized and cool to the touch. I have been using this moisturizer at night becuase it does not have a sunscreen. However, for this review I started using it during the day. Mineral foundation and “mousse” foundations apply so evenly and nicely over this Sweet Tea & Ginger Moisturizer. In the past, I have used oil-free moisturizers, Clinique Dramatically Different Gel, and powder foundation would apply so unevenly. I would have splotches of foundation and of course, not notice it until I was far from home. This did not happen with the Juara Mattefying Moisturizer. The finish I get with foundation over this moisturizer is almost like using a foundation primer. I feel my pores are less noticeable and the foundation applies evenly. I really do feel this moisturizer kept my skin shine-free. I used way less oil-blotting papers during the day. I went from 4 sheets a day to 1! Oh, and those pesky blackheads are gone. I didn’t see them after 3 days of using this (granted, they weren’t a huge problem to begin with but they drove me crazy).  As far as the anti-aging properties, I couldn’t tell because prevention is my concern at this time. I did feel that my skin felt smoother. The ingredients in this moisturizer seem to exfoliate the skin while being gentle.

Scent: This moisturizer has a very faint “spicy” like ginger/cinnamon scent that I believe is naturally occurring. It isn’t abrasive and it fades very quickly. Being a fragrance person, I’m always on the look out for scents in products. I like the gingery essence of this moisturizer.

Who’s this for? Individuals with normal-to-oily or oily skin who are concerned with signs of aging. Juara Sweet Tea & Ginger Mattefying Moisturzier  is for people that want a light-weight, barely there feeling moisturizer. I also think this is a nice moisturizer for those with larger and congested pores. (Seriously, something in this formula “purges” impurities from pores). This is also a great moisturizer for oily and sensitive skins. This isn’t really the best moisturizer for me most of the year, but I can see it working for so many people I know.

Who’s this not for? Individuals with normal-to-dry or dry skin. There is not enough moisture in this product for you. I know that this formula is not something I can use most of the year. This is something that I can only use in the summer when my skin is normal to oily. This moisturizer does not contain a sunscreen.

Juara Sweet Black Tea & Ginger Mattefying Moisturizer retails for $48 for 2 oz. It is available at Juara. Check out my Beauty Deals & Promo pages for Juara’s specials.

  1. oh wow! that sounds fantastic 😛 …how do i try it? I’m in my late 30s and acne seems to follow me around

    1. Here’s the store locator for the USA/Canada: Maybe you could try it in person or request a sample. offers free samples with a purchase. Unfortunately, I can only find full-size products online. Sometimes travel sets are available and that is a great way to try before committing to a full-size.
I think this would be a great product for someone in their late 30’s dealing with acne/oiliness. So many acne/oily skin products on the market are harsh! This is a “grown-up” oil-free moisturizer 🙂

  2. Great review!

This sounds like it would be great for my skin type. I like this “purging” idea especially with the sticky summer we are having.

Unfortunately, I just ordered a trial kit from another company, but if it’s not suited, perhaps I will give Juara a try! Thanks!

    1. I started using an oil-free drugstore moisturizer to get me though another month of “summer” weather. Those blackheads are already back 🙁 I had these “going nowhere” blemishes on my chin. They weren’t discolored, just pumps. After using this for a week, this is so gross so I’ll put it nicely, they “surfaced” and then “I took care of them”.
What other brand did you order?
I have more Juara products to try. So far, I’ve been very happy with the products. They make perfume too 🙂

      1. I ordered a trial kit from Suki. I have been curious about thier products for a couple of years and never got around to trying them!

Have you tried the Juara perfumes?

I have had those “going nowhere” pimples before. I used this amazing stuff from Mario Badescu called “drying cream”. It has a clay-like texture and you only need a little, so one jar lasts forever! It got rid of bumps I had for years!

        1. I hear good things about Suki. I haven’t tried that line either.
I know that I should really try Mario Badescu products for targeted problems. I don’t know of one person who hasn’t raved on the drying cream. I also hear good things about their masks. I find that it takes me a long time to use up skincare, especially targeted products. I guess that is a good thing. It’s a value, right?
I have not tried Juara perfumes or perfumed body products. A friend told me the jasmine body line is very nice. I like jasmine, my husband loves it. Maybe need to get the jasmine body line and before I hand over the “to do” list, haha.

          1. Lucky gal that your husband loves scents. My husband is not really moved by the smell of anything except BBQ! The few times he has told me I smell good, I was thrilled!

          2. Well, he doesn’t say much about scents either, so when he does, it’s a big deal. He seems to like what I call “primitive” soliflores of gardenia or jasmine.

  3. I really should try this. I have oily skin with occasional blemishes. My skin doesn’t do well with drugstore oily skin products because my skin is really sensitive.

    1. I’m no skincare expert, but I know that I liked this product for my oily “summer skin”. I think it’s worth a try because it is a gentle formula. My skin is fussy and I didn’t have sensitivity to this moisturizer.

  4. I love the Juara brand! This moisturizer is perfect for me! I’ve went through 2 bottles already and I know those won’t be my last.
