Jacomo has some really good fragrances. The new version of Silences is one of my favorites. But, apparently they needed to launch some more stuff so that young people will keep them in business. So, they launched two His/Her fragrances that I think are in a smartphone packaging? Or at least are suggestive of some sort of modern-day device. Reading the copy, these both sounded “young” so I knew they weren’t for my demographic. But, I tried them anyway because they retail for under $50.
For Him includes notes of lemon, grapefruit, anise, patchouli, jasmine, violet, lavender, amber, vanilla, rosewood, ozone, and musk. Launched 2011.
It’s Me for Him opens with a sharp citrus/grapefruit with an aromatic lavender. And then it’s like dry spices and a sweeter amber.
It’s one of those that smells like a modern designer masculine. I’m rather neutral about these but I can see why people would buy these sort of blends. They smell good, not interesting, but good.
For Her includes notes of pineapple, mandarin, anise, dry fruit, pear, freesia, lily of the valley, jasmine, iris powder, patchouli, sandalwood and musk. Launched 2011.
It’s Me for Her opens with a sweet pineapple and a “musky” pear. After the fruits fade, it’s a powdery floral with a warm musk.
It’s Me isn’t really a “me” fragrance but I can see people liking it, probably a younger-than-me demographic (like I’ve mentioned earlier). Honestly, I prefer this over many of the By Kilian Garden of Good and Evil perfumes which I think were created for a similar demo. And this is much cheaper!
Give For Her a try if you like modern musky florals. Or if you like perfumes like Phaedon Pluie de Soleil, Jennifer Lopez Live, Jimmy Choo and/or Burberry Brit. Projection and longevity are average.
Both of these are “young” to me and may be a good choice or gift for a younger person (like a teenager). They’re both palatable and affordable. They aren’t ground-breaking so I wouldn’t say they are must-try perfumes for “fumeheads” but they are good for the demographic they were trying to reach. Now excuse me, I’m going to go wear Silences Eau Sublime now…
The 1.7 oz retails for about $46 at New London Pharmacy.
