Confession time…I was a huge fan of “The Simple Life” and love Paris Hilton. However, this aesthetic really didn’t mesh with my gothness. So, I never understood the Juicy Couture aesthetic and I often spent time making fun of it. I mean, I didn’t want to look like a hipless teenager in hot pink terry sweatpants with Old English letters on my bum. This wasn’t my style and gosh, it’d never be flattering on me.
Another confession…I love the original Juicy Couture perfume. It’s this over the top tuberose that is neon and dying for attention (which really is perfect for the brand!). It opens with an obnoxious synthetic watermelon and apple. The heart is a loud, syrupy tuberose. It dries down to caramel and lilies. This all sounds like a mess, probably because it is. YET, I love it.
Notes listed include watermelon, mandarin, pink passionflower, green leaves, water hyacinth, marigold, tuberose, lily, wild rose, caramel, powdery vanilla, patchouli and woods. Launched in 2006. PERFUMER – Harry Fremot
Prices range from $56 to $96 at Sephora and Amazon.
