At one time in my life I really enjoyed i Profumi di Firenze Vaniglia del Madagascar. Now I don’t. It’s not the memories associated with the fragrance or the fact that my tastes have expanded. There’s just something about Vaniglia del Madagascar that doesn’t work for me anymore.
Vaniglia del Madagascar is really sweet. It’s a sweet vanilla and that’s really all you need to know about it. You’ll get some lemon-custard-tropical flowers over raw vanilla extract. It’s not unpleasant. It’s just so not exciting for me. And it gets sweeter and sweeter, ending up as vanilla custard on my skin.
It’s a long-wearing fragrance and it does layer nicely with other lotions or scents. I think my problem with this fragrance is the simplicity. And I expect more from something at this price point.
Notes listed include vanilla orchid and vanilla bean from Madagascar.
Give Vaniglia del Madagascar a try if you are looking for a custard style vanilla or if you like perfumes like LaVanila Pure Vanilla, The Body Shop Vanilla perfume oil, Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Extreme, and/or Pacifica Island Vanilla EDT. This is not the vanilla for you if you like balsamic or more “tobacco” like vanilla perfumes. Or if you like “sheer vanillas”. This is thick, creamy, sweet, custard vanilla. It doesn’t smell like plastic on me, so that’s great.
The 1.7 oz EDP or Vaniglia del Madagascar retails for $99 at Beautyhabit.
Is there a fragrance in your collection that you no longer like but used to wear? Do you think your tastes changed or expanded? Why do you not wear it anymore?
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Sweet vanilla custard. I love vanilla but this is no longer the vanilla for me. I don’t find anything special about it.

At one time I loved Calvin Klein Euphoria, no more. I think that’s simply my tastes expanding though.

I have a bottle of Euphoria. It isn’t bad. As far as that fruitichouli genre, I think it is the best. But, I understand. The more you sniff, the more you go back and say “I wore that?”
Thanks for the shout out! My favorite way to wear this one is layered over CB I Hate Perfume Burning Leaves concentrated oil. Divine. I love that there are several new and extremely interesting vanillas from the last few years, such as SDV. I can understand that Vaniglia del Madagascar might be too thick and/or sweet for some, but when it works it really works.
I used to wear it but now it just doesn’t suit me. I do like it layered. Not as creative as yours, but I find that it wears nicely with orange or “colognes” on top.
