Huitieme Art Manguier Metisse EDP Perfume Review

Huitieme Art Manguier Metisse perfume

Huitieme Art perfumes only contain 2-3 accords and is based on “phyto-perfumery”. You can read more about that and then some at Ça Fleure Bon. One thing is for sure with this line, they trip me up. I feel like I smell them on “rewind”, especially Manguier Métisse.

Manguier Métisse opens as a sweet mango lassi: sweet, tart, creamy. The mango lassi is perfumed but this time not by a splash of rosewater. Manguier Metisse has a heavy dose of frangipani. If Menguier Metisse wasn’t “tropical” enough for you, it now should be. This frangipani adds a humidity and sun-toasted warmth. After an hour or so of wear, this fragrance gets creamier and sweeter as a vanilla-frangipani-almond custard. Just when I thought I knew Manguier Metisse, something happened. After about 4-5 hours and no longer thinking about this perfume, I got this lovely feminine floral. It was so soft, velvety and petal-y. This beautiful delicate floral was Menguier Metisse…the most gentle franipani. It’s a feminine floral that I enjoy wearing.

I say that I smell this in “rewind” because it seems that most people get petals on petals and then the creaminess. The frangipani seems to stay “dormant” on my skin. It appears, completely vanishes and then reappears stronger than ever. Trippy, huh?

Notes listed include mango bark and frangipani. PERFUMER – Pierre Guillaume

Give Manguier Metisse a try if you are looking for a good fruity-floral or if you like perfumes like Annick Goutal Folavril, Sarah Horowitz Perfect Nectar, FRESH Sugar Lychee and/or Calypso Bellini. But, really I can’t really come up with a perfume “like” Manguier Metisse at this time. Try it if you are looking for mango or if you are looking for frangipani. The fragrance has below average sillage and above average longevity. It wears “softly”.

A 1.7 oz bottle of Manguier Métisse retails for $135 and is available at Luckyscent.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONMango lassi with delicate frangipani petals. At first, I thought I didn’t like it. After a few more wears, I like it. This is my favorite mango fragrance to date…even if mango isn’t “technically” in this.

    1. I actually seeing it being more seasonless. I can see it being a “beachy” scent because it is creamy but at the same time this creaminess is nice for cooler weather. It’s a simple scent but good.
