One of my favorite cosmetics brands, Hourglass, has launched new colors in their lip products, Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss and Panoramic Long Wear Lip Liner.
Panoramic Long Wear Lip Liner
I’m a fan of lip liners, even when they aren’t in vogue. I’m a dedicated lip liner user and I’ve tried so many brands over the years.
This liner is one that you sharpen. The other end features a high-quality blending brush. The outside of the liner represents the shade of the actual liner.
The formula is exactly as advertised – smooth and long-wearing. It’s an awesome formula. I consider myself a lip liner connoisseur and this is one of the best formulas that I’ve ever used. There’s no tugging. And it’s long-wearing. Works excellent as a liner and as a color base.
Shade – Raven
This is a perfect red with warm, orange undertones. This one looks more coral on me and works best with coral, peach and red lip colors.
Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss
This is a richly pigmented lip gloss. I actually think of it as a liquid lipstick with tons of shine. It’s a thicker formula but it’s not sticky. The formula feels great on my lips and is exactly what I want from a lip gloss (shine, “cushy” feeling, no stickiness, no feathering). It has a faint vanilla scent.
Shade – Muse
This is one of those electrified corals. I can tell that it will lean more orange on some people and more red on others. This shade has no shimmer. It’s like a retro 1950’s coral. After eating or drinking, the pigment remains. It’s less glossy and it wears as a deep pinky peach or medium coral on me.
The packaging is a slim tube. The color is visible from one side only. I love the applicator. It’s felted but it’s not the typical doe-foot applicator. It’s flat, almost like a paddle and distributes this heavily-pigmented color evenly.
And here’s a pic of the lip liner and lip gloss on my lips – glossy, shiny and coral. It’s a really pretty combo for summer.
The only con I can think of regarding these products is their price. But, this price is “normal” for department store products. Regardless of price, I think the quality of these are excellent and I want the lip liner in all of the other colors.
Both of these products retail for $28 at Sephora.

Beautiful combination. I don’t generally wear lip liners, but that one sounds like something I should try.
I think Eden is the one that would go with everything. That is the one I’d like to purchase 🙂
I’ve always kinda liked Hourglass (especially their No 28 Lip Treatment Oil) but now that I have decided to go cruelty-free with my makeup I plan on buying a lot more of their stuff.
Yes, me too. I do own things that aren’t cruelty-free but when it comes time to repurchase, I won’t. This day in age, there is so much competition and I know I can get good products that haven’t been tested on animals.
Hourglass has some very nice products.
I feel the same way re: using up old products and only repurchasing cruelty free. It won’t be difficult for makeup/skincare/household products but I’m still not quite what to do about the perfumes. The perfume maniac in me is loath to give up on all the choices out there.
It’s really hard for perfumes mainly because that info isn’t readily available. (Or at least I can say that I haven’t found a reliable source yet).
