Let me introduce you to one of my favorite vetiver fragrances ever.
Hermès Hermessence Vetiver Tonka smells like a vetiver caramel latte. The hazelnut in this comes across as coffee beans to me. The fragrance has that abstract sheerness that it appears that only Ellena can do successfully. It’s a slightly salty vetiver, green and gourmand with better-than-vanilla tonka beans. It’s warm and slightly smoky.
Notes listed include vetiver, hazelnut, praline and tonka beans. Launch date 2004. PERFUMER – Jean-Claude Ellena
Give Vétiver Tonka a try if you would like to try a “warm” vetiver. Or if you like perfumes like Byredo Bal d’Afrique, L’Artisan Parfumeur Cœur de Vetiver Sacré, LesNez Turtle Vetiver and/or Phaedon Dzhari. Vétiver Tonka is unisex and seasonless.
Projection is Ellena-esque, very sheer. Longevity is average on my skin.
The 3.3 oz of Vétiver Tonka retails for $235 at Hermès boutiques.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Vetiver caramel latte. It’s a gourmand vetiver; hence, it’s probably my favorite vetiver.

This is my favorite perfume from the Hermessence line. I need to wear it more often…

I would love a bottle. What are the others that you like from the line?
You do not need a bottle! You need a travel bottle (15 ml) 🙂 That’s what I went for. Luckily, Hermess allows to do the combining so I ended up getting 2 Vetiver Tonka (one for me, one for another perfumista), Rose Ikebana and (I know, not too many people like it) Brin de Réglisse.

I wouldn’t consider myself a “vetiver person” but I am when it smells this good!
