I think with the name like HEELEY “Hippie Rose” many people expect something with tons of patchouli or something that smells very earthy and dirty. Hippie Rose is not a dirty hippie. It’s never camped out but it does view the scenery and it just may consider glamping. It’s more of a Rachel Zoe bohemian rose than a Janis Joplin rose. Seriously, this perfume is sooo Rachel Zoe or Nicole Ritchie. It’s modern California boho.
Hippie Rose opens a sharp green, citrus rose with tart raspberries. It has a light-hearted, youthful feel. It’s fresh and not as heavy as other rose fragrances but not as dainty as all of that English rose stuff. There’s a hint of dry cedar that adds a funk. What is that lovely musk that I smell? Oh, it’s me. The dry-down of Hippie Rose always surprises me. It’s this warm musk that is almost Malle Musc Ravageur-ish.
Notes listed include bergamot, green moss, Bulgarian rose, patchouli, incense, Haitian vetiver, amber and musk. Launch date 2011.
Give Hippie Rose a try if you like a soft rose fragrance. Or if you like perfumes like Ramon Monegal L’Eau de Rose, Annick Goutal Rose Splendide, Juliette Has a Gun Miss Charming and/or Stella McCartney Stella. I can see this being unisex because of the musk but it does lean more feminine because of the top notes.
Hippie Rose has average projection and above average longevity because of those HEELEY musks.
The 3.4 oz bottle retails for $180 at MiN NY.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Fruity rose and musk. I know that Hippie Rose isn’t necessarily “unique” but I really enjoy wearing it as a rose lover. However, it’s so expensive that it’s difficult for me to want to buy a bottle.

Scent of the Day – Review of Malle Portrait of a Lady too.
This is only from memory, but I am 90% certain Rachel Zoe has stated in an interview that this IS her perfume! Hah
Seriously???
It’s so her (I mean, I don’t know her but it fits her style). If she doesn’t wear it, she should.
I have to admit that I wish I could pull-off that modern boho aesthetic. I want to wear kimonos with bell bottom jeans and floppy hats and not look silly.
[…] HEELEY Hippie Rose EDP – I’ve always thought that this modern rose musk is a perfect interpretation of modern SoCal boho. I see this laid-back rose pairing well with sun-bleached denim and macrame vests. Retails for $180 at LuckyScent. Full review here. […]
