Epic Blend Premium Lip Balm Review

Epic Blend Lip Balms

Epic Blend is a Canadian based lip balm brand. They kindly scent me a few of their permanent lip balms for me to try. It’s like they new that I had epically dry lips or something…

The line consists of three collections: More Moisture, Vegan and Hemp.

More Moisture contains seven organic moisturizers: shea butter coconut oil, sunflower oil, castor oil, beeswax and non-GMO vitamin E. This formula has some “slip” to it but doesn’t wear off super quickly. The flavors in this collection are more fruity, Lip Smacker-y.

More Moisture Cherry – A “classic” flavor that will remind you of another popular drugstore lip balm. Except this one is organic. It has that classic Luden’s Throat Lozenge Wild Cherry flavor.

More Moisture Unflavored – I love it when a line offers an unflavored lip product. I love fragrances and flavors but let’s face it. Sometimes it’s sensory overload.

More Moisture Green Apple – A green apple martini. I’m not a fan of green apple Jolly Rancher-ish scents but they have their market.

More Moisture Grape – Grape juice. So, my confession is that I love “fake” cherry and grape aromas and the flavor of “fake” banana. (I say “fake” because it doesn’t resemble an actual grape or banana). I can’t help it. These are the things that I like. So, I love this grape lip balm. And I love the Cherry one.

Vegan is 100% plant-based and contains no beeswax. It contains candelilla wax and the following organic ingredients: coconut oil, sunflower oil, cocoa butter and non-GMO vitamin E. It’s a really smooth formula. The flavors in this collection are more fruity.

Vegan Pineapple Mint – A fruity mint. I didn’t really know what to expect with this flavor but do you know that garden variety of mint “pineapple mint”, it’s like that. Cool and fruity.

Vegan Wild Berry – A “light” berry-sugar scent.

Hemp contains organic hemp seed oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, beeswax and non-GMO vitamin E. This formula is thicker yet smooth. The flavors of these are more “gourmandy” like Vanilla and Chocolate Rum.

Hemp Vanilla – A delicious, boozy vanilla. Smells just like real vanilla extract.

Hemp Citrus Kick – A sweet orange. Meh. Not bad but I don’t gravitate towards citrus.

Hemp Mint – An icy cool mint. I typically dislike mint lip products because they hurt my lips. Anyway, the flavor of this one is really good and I like it better than other minty lip balms.

Hemp Coconut – A tropical coconut. It’s creamy and delicious. Yes, it does venture into “tanning oil” territory.

Epic Blend is gluten-free, paraben-free and cruelty-free. Also, there is no sweeteners in their flavoring. The packaging is your basic plastic lip balm tube. I have thrown these in my bag and the caps do stay on. Oh, and each tube says something a little sassy.

I like all of the formulas but I like Hemp a little more because I think it lasts the longest on my lips. My favorite flavors are Cherry, Grape, Vanilla and Coconut. All of the formulas are smooth – not gritty or gooey. And not waxy. There’s no tint or “shine” to these (unisex!). They’re a good basic, non-medicated lip balm that does what they claim to do – moisturize.

These retail for $3.49 at Epic Blend. They’re also available at retailers across Canada.
