I love to celebrate the different seasons with food – traditional baked goods, seasonal produce, regional flavors. I also love to switch out my perfumes and beauty products to more “seasonal” items like “purple floral” perfumes and pastel nail polish. I’m really influenced by the seasons.
Here’s a little “guide” to spring beauty products, yes, many inspired by the symbolism associated with how many Americans celebrate Easter, Passover and spring festivals. I don’t want to support the commercialization of religious holidays, but let’s face it. Things like jelly beans and creamy chocolate eggs are now commonly recognized culturally as “spring” and not religious festivities.
Perfumes
Alice & Peter Bloody Orange EDP – This is a sweet amber with carrot and citrus. It’s like a carrot cake amber. The 1 oz bottle retails for $38 at Beautyhabit.
Honoré des Prés I Love Les Carottes EDP – This is an unusual carrot/iris perfume. Full review. Retails for $98 at Beautyhabit.
L’Artisan Parfumeur Verte Violette EDT – This is a soft green violet that reminds me of little bunnies eating violets. Full review. Retails for $100 at The Perfume Shoppe.
Bath and Body
LUSH Bunch of Carrots Bath Bubbles – This is a limited edition “bunch” of bath bubbles with a fruity citrus fragrance. Retails for $12.95 at LUSH.
Farmhouse Fresh Hand Cream in Fluffy Bunny – This is a soft scent “lavender mint julep”. Also, more bunnies should be on boxes. Retails for $14 at drugstore.com.
Yes to Carrots Hydrating Body Wash – I actually like most of the Yes to Carrots products. This is a moisturizing shower gel with a soft, clean scent. Retails for about $8 at drugstore.com.
Skincare
Burt’s Bees Carrot Nutritive Night Cream – This cream is for dry skin. It has a thicker, waxier texture which I like but most people will find it too heavy. It smells like a carrot cake. Retails for about $15 at drugstore.com.
Tonymoly Pocket Bunny Mist – This Korean brand is known for their adorable packaging. This is a bunny skincare hydration mist with a fruity scent. Retails for about $14 at iMoMoKo.
Etude House Green Tea Nose Patch – Here’s another Korean brand known for their cuteness. This is a nose “patch” mask for oily skin (you know one of those you peel off). The packaging features an adorable baby bird. Retails for $3 a iMoMoKo.
Makeup
Beautyblender Pure – This egg shaped sponge has a cult-following. Now there is a “colorless” version. Retails for about $20 at Sephora.
Rouge Bunny Rouge Sweet Excesses Glassy Gloss in Fleur Parfait – This cool mauve is such a pretty gloss shade for spring. Retails for $25 at Beautyhabit.
Too Faced La Creme Lip Cream in Marshmallow Bunny – This is a sheer, frosty pink in a moisturizing formula. Retails for $22 at Sephora.
Home Fragrance
Yankee Candle Marshmallow Chicks – I’ve never understood the allure of Peeps. My husband says it is because I have a dark, soulless heart. But, really technicolor marhsmallows don’t appeal to me. Anyway, here’s a marshmallow candle inspired by everyone’s favorite technicolor marshmallow chicks. Retails for about $28 at Yankee Candle.
Diptyque Violette Candle – This candle makes me think of spring, sweet candied violets. Retails for $60 at Beautyhabit.
Katz’s Chocolate Egg Cream Candle – (not pictured) This chocolate syrup scented candle is made by Joya for the well-known Katz’s Deli. Egg Creams aren’t a spring thing per se but I do think of Katz’s for Passover. The candle retails for $25 at Katz’s.
Peeps! Just the name makes me smile. My nephew told me they taste better if they harden outside of the packaging for a week. I’m taking his word for it. I’m saving my calories for carrot cake. Yum.
David says this too. I’m not buying it 😉
Yes, I’m saving my calories for more delicious stuff as well.
