EauMG’s Perfume Picks for Summer 2014

summer perfumes

It’s a officially summer and I hope you’re ready for my Summer 2014 perfume picks for “every” occasion in various price points.

Summer Beach Perfumes

Tropical Scents

Olivine Atelier Amongst the Waves perfume oil – This is a pretty gardenia meets stargazer lily and they’re wearing tanning oil. Retails for $48 at Beautyhabit. It’s also available in an EDP but I actually prefer the oil for summer.

Yves Rocher Malaysian Coconut EDT – Sometimes you just want something straightforward. And this is. It’s like coconut milk. The only downside is that it doesn’t linger around very long but I don’t complain because it’s cheap. Retails for $12 at Yves Rocher.

Diptyque Eau Moheli EDT – This is a ylang-ylang soliflore. And I had to have something in this category that isn’t overly creamy. Eau Moheli is simple but it’s smells great on a beach. Seriously. Retails for $98 at Beautyhabit.

Summer citrus perfumes

Citrus with a Twist

Penhaligon’s Juniper Sling EDT – OK, I tried to love this one, but I didn’t. But, I can admit that this citrus-amber smells really, really good in hot weather. My complaint wasn’t the perfume but more of the marketing. (But I’m picky like that). Retails for $120 at Beautyhabit. Full review here.

The Different Company Sel de Vetiver EDT – Citrus? Sort of. It’s a salty vetiver with a bright citrus opening. One of my favorite vetivers. Retails for $150 at Beautyhabit.

LUSH Euphoria EDP – This is an herbal, musky citrus. Opens up as bright and sunny and dries down to vegetal clary sage musk. Retails for $36 at LUSH. Smaller sizes are also available. Full review here.

fresh summer scents

Fresh scents for hot days

Aether Arts Aether Argent EDP (not pictured) – This is a cool, minty white musk. It’s totally something that I want to wear when it’s gross and sticky outside. Retails for $49 at Aether Arts. Full review here.

Providence Perfume Co. Branch & Vine Cologne – This is a fresh green scent that reminds me of tomato leaves. It’s garden fresh. Retails for $80 at Beautyhabit. Full review here.

Carthusia Uomo EDP – This is a clean, inoffensive masculine scent that isn’t boring. It’s citrus and barnacles. Retails for $80 at Beautyhabit.

summer gourmands

Gourmands for Summer

Lostmarch Lann-Ael EDT – It’s a milky vanilla and grains fragrance that is light and breezy enough for summer wear. Retails for $85 at Beautyhabit. Full review here.

Ayala Moriel Musc Malabi EDP – This is an all-natural gourmand rose-vanilla dessert with this cooling green cardamom that is perfect for hot summer days, just like the dessert! The vegan musk accord in this is stunning too. Retails for $120 at Ayala Moriel.

Artemisia Saveur de L’Abricot EDP – This isn’t a sweet gourmand. Instead it’s a fruity fragrance that makes my mouth water. It’s an amazing apricot/peach scent. Retails for $68 at Artemisia Perfumes. Full review here.

summer perfumes

Date Night – Feminines

Thierry Mugler Alien Eau Extraordinaire EDP – Alien has been updated. It’s now lighter and brighter. Retails for $69 at Sephora. Full review here.

Dita Von Teese EDP – This is a sweeter white floral with smoldering incense, perfect for date night! I’ve noticed the florals really bloom in the heat. Retails for $50 at HSN. Full review here.

HEELEY Hippie Rose EDP – Looking for a more relaxed date night perfume? They this fruity rose with cedar. Retails for $180 at Luckyscent. Full review here.

masculine fragrances

Date Night – Masculines

Dior Aqua Fahrenheit – I think Fahrenheit should be for every date night, but hey, let’s mix it up! This is Fahrenheit with a fresher vetiver. Really good, especially for a designer scent. Retails for $84 at Sephora.

Tom Ford Extreme EDT – This is what I call “sexy forest fire”. It’s smoky evergreens. Retails for $130 at Sephora.

Opus Oils Absintheo EDP – This is a green fig over the smoothest sandalwood. Retails for $115 at Opus Oils. Full review here.

  1. Ditto for the Olivine “Amongst the Waves” Never underestimate the joy of coconut on a hot summer day! I see a Salt spray version of this on the anthropologie website. Does this mean it’s salty smelling, because that would be even better. I would add Yosh “Ginger Ciao” as well.

    1. I have a proper review of Amongst the Waves coming soon. I think it may have replaced Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess for me.

Ginger Ciao is my favorite YOSH perfume.

  2. Is ginger ciao like sushi imperiale by Bois, but for Summer? Im very interested in Among the waves. I can’t wait or the review.

    1. Ginger Ciao on my skin is a really heady white floral with coconut with some greens, like fig leaves. I wouldn’t compare it to Sushi Imperiale but I can’t really think of what I would compare it to, haha. Maybe like a Vero Profumo Onda with coconut oil?

I’m now very interested in that Amongst the Waves salt spray 🙂 But, my hair won’t be long enough for beachy waves for like two more summers…
