EauMG’s Perfume Picks for Autumn 2013

It’s my favorite time of the year! And it’s time for me to bust out of some of my favorite fragrances. Here are my fall fragrance picks for 2013:

Julie Newmar

Harvest Scents

Parfums DelRae Bois de Paradis EDP – A spicy harvest fragrance with blackberry wine and figs. It’s pretty amazing. The 1.7 oz retails for $135 at Beautyhabit. Full review.

Kelly & Jones #3 Notes of Cabernet EDP – This is a line of perfume inspired by wine. Cabernet is a cherry pipe tobacco and leather with a spicy pink pepper opening. Wear it while at the pumpkin patch. The 1.7 oz bottle retails for $50 at Kelly & Jones.

Slumberhouse Pear & Olive Parfum Extrait– It’s orchards of the Pacific Northwest. Pear, woods and booze. The 1 oz retails for $125 at Luckyscent.

Fragrances for a Cool, Rainy Day – The Warm You Up Scents

Serge Lutens 5 O’Clock Au Gingembre EDP – One of my favorite ginger fragrances. This is a warm, cozy spicy fragrance with ginger, honey, beeswax and vanilla. It’s inspired by English manors and libraries and that’s cool with me. The 1. 7 oz retails for $130 at Beautyhabit.

Jacomo Art Collection #08 EDP – This is a spicy chai fragrance with milk and honey. I love it and I love the price even more. The 1.7 oz bottle retails for $69 at C.O. Bigelow. Full review.

Penhaligon’s Elixir EDT – This is a fresh, spicy incense. It’s one of my “comfort” fragrances. The 1.7 oz EDT retails for $85 at Beautyhabit. Full review.

Scents for a Hayride

Etat Libre d’Orange Jasmin et Cigarette EDP – Oh, I love this fragrance. It’s jasmine and fresh, unlit cigarettes. There’s some osmanthus and cumin too. Because of the tobacco, this one works well with hay. The 1.7 oz bottle retails for $80 at C.O. Bigelow.Full Review.

L’Artisan Parfumeur Voleur de Roses EDT – Hay benefits this damp, dark rose with patchouli. Retails for $145 at Beautyhabit. Full review.

Matriarch Blackbird EDP – This is a dark, complex woodsy fragrance with smoke, leather, sandalwood and even marijuana. I could see this working so nicely on a cool fall evening outdoors. Retails for $120 at Matriarch.

Bonfires in a Bottle

Le Labo Patchouli 24 EDP – Weenie roast and bonfires with some patchouli. It’s a birch tar bomb. The 1.7 oz retails for $160 at Luckyscent.

CB I Hate Perfume Burning Leaves Perfume – Listen, the name says it all. Retails for $95 at CB I Hate Perfume.

Parfumerie Generale 02 Coze EDT – It’s like a smoky bonfire except for those with a sweettooth. It’s like a gourmand bonfire. I have it on the list for those that like smoky fragrance but don’t want to smell like meat. The 1.7 oz bottle retails for $100 at Luckyscent.

Cozy, Comforting Scents

Olfactive Studio Lumiere Blanche EDP – This is a cozy cardamom with tonka and almond milk. It does wear closely to the skin making it a very intimate fragrance. It wears nicely on scarves. The 1.7 oz EDP retails for $145 at Beautyhabit. Full review.

Victoria’s Secret Dream Angels Heavenly EDP – I’ve never been able to explain why I like this one. I think it’s the cardamom and cozy, soft musks. It’s powdery and reminds me of angora sweaters. The 2.5 oz bottle retails for $55 at Victoria’s Secret.

L’Artisan Parfumeur Safran Troublant EDT – It’s a spicy rose with vanilla – soft and comforting. It’s sugar and spice and everything nice. Retails for $145 at Beautyhabit.  Full review.

Date Night for Masculines

YOSH Sombra Negra EDP – This one is for the broody, mysterious types. It’s a smoky leather and damp vetiver with spice. The 1.7 oz retails for $130 at Barneys. Full review.

Chantecaille Kalimantan EDP – Guys, trust me when I say that this patch-heavy amber with the disco ball cap is sexy stuff. Because it is. Retails for $175 at Beautyhabit.

Keith Urban Phoenix Cologne – I promise that I’m not punking you. This is my suggestion for a “budget” fragrance that is sweet, cozy and well, strangely good. It’s a sweet chocolate with leather and tonka. It smells more niche than I ever expected. The 1.7 oz retails for about $25 at Fragrancenet.

Date Night for Feminines

Juliette Has a Gun Midnight Oud EDP – Rose, oud and leather. It’s one of my favorite scents for fall evening wear. The 3.4 oz retails for $135 at Beautyhabit. Full review.

Viktoria Minya Hedonist EDP – Oh, it’s a gorgeous blend of honey, spice, florals, a modern amber. I say wear this on a first date, make an impression. Retails for $195 at Luckyscent.

Guerlain L’Instant de Guerlain EDP – This is a gorgeous honeyed floral with lots of vanilla. It’s so cozy and I guarantee someone will want to snuggle with you if you are wearing this. The 1 oz retails for $75 at Sephora.

So what do you look forward to wearing this fall?
