I went nuts buying clothes so I tried to restrict myself on the beauty purchases. I ran out of cleanser so I bought Glyderm Gentle Cleanser and Lalun Naturals Winter Rose Oil Cleanser. So far, I’m loving both. Being that it’s colder, I don’t air dry my hair as often because I feel like I’ll freeze to death. I bought Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Thermal Setting Spritz. I love how it smells and leaves my hair feeling soft.
I told myself that I wouldn’t buy anything on Black Friday/Cyber Monday. That was a silly mistake. I ordered a box from Memebox because it seemed like a good idea at the time. I ordered an engraved lipstick and Opium Body Oil from YSL. I had no idea there was an Opium Body Oil!
I’m trying to buy less and use up products that I have. This is not going so well when there were so many sales running.
SKINCARE
My skin was crazy dry in November. This meant I had to bust out moisturizing sheet masks and gentle products to baby my skin.
e.l.f. Daily Face Cleanser – There is nothing luxurious about this product. The formula is runny. It has a generic aquatic aroma. It doesn’t do a good job of removing makeup so it’s reserved for morning use. But, it’s gentle and the pH is right. It’s also cheap but the bottle is also really small. My point: you get what you pay for.
- Repurchase? I don’t plan on it but it is one of the few drugstore cleansers with a decent pH.
Muji Moisturizing Light Toning Water (huge size) – Why did I think it was a good idea to buy a toner from an organization store? Well, I did. It’s a basic liquid toner. It doesn’t really do much other than remove leftover makeup. No real scent. I have nothing negative or positive to say about it.
- Repurchase? No. It wasn’t terrible it’s just that I have used better toners. I like the moisturizing kind.
Nature Republic Real Nature Cream in Honey – The cream is so much better than the super sticky ampoule. It’s creamy but lightweight. It’s a good cheap, basic moisturizer that smells like Prada Candy Florale.
- Repurchase? I don’t know. It’s not the most amazing thing ever but it’s cheap and good if I layer with lots of other stuff.
Leaders 7 Wonders Caribbean Coconut Calming Mask – Leaders masks are superior. This is a gel sheet mask with coconut oil. It left my skin super soft but I don’t think my skin likes coconut oil. I had a whitehead the next day.
- Repurchase? I will repurchase Leaders but probably not this one.
3W Clinic Fresh Coenzyme Q10 Mask – I mean, it’s Samsung branded so that’s good, right? I have been a fan of these cheap sheet masks for years. However, this one had a weird fit. I got a defective one. But, at least it doesn’t have the Note 8 defect and nothing was set on fire.
- Repurchase? At under $1, I’ll take another chance.
Hey Pinkgo Girl Silk Rose Intense Hydration Mask – These masks are really thin and super saturated with serum. It smells rose-y. It did leave my skin super shiny the next day (and I love that).
- Repurchase? Yes, I have many more of these left.
Tonymoly Pureness 100 Snail Sheet Mask – With so many formulas, it’s easy to forget the gold standard: SNAIL. It’s a decent mask for moisture. The deal is that I don’t find the Tonymoly masks that luxurious because of the mask itself. They’re cheap so I’m not complaining.
- Repurchase? Actually, probably not. I have other likes in this price range that I’d rather buy.
Soap Distillery Lip Balm in Negroni – It’s a natural lip balm that smells like a splash of orange blossom water. Mine looks so rough because it survived going through the wash.
- Repurchase? I love the scent but really my lip does best with scent-free products. I’m denying this and will probably buy another.
Garden of Wisdom Fall Into My Pumpkin Cleanser (deluxe sample) – If you like non-foaming/cream cleansers, then you may like this. It feels amazing and doesn’t dry out my skin. It also smells like pumpkin pie because of the addition of spices. This makes it something you don’t want to get in your eyes.
- Repurchase? I was going to but the pH is a little higher than I wanted (about 6, I think). However, it does feel great.
Laneige Multiberry Yogurt Mask (sample) – I usually don’t like Laneige products so was surprised that I liked this. It smells like strawberry yogurt and has a lovely texture. It did exactly what it said it would and my skin seems to like it.
- Purchase? I have got to use up my current wash-off mask stash BUT this is on my list.
FRAGRANCE
I’m trying to use up some of my samples. I have so many things with only one more use left; yet, I leave them alone as if this is a library or something. It’s not. I need to use up all the things that I enjoy.
Namaste Incense Sticks in Lemongrass – I have had this package for longer than I should have kept them. I’m not the biggest fan of lemongrass incense because it smells sort of stale weed-y after it burns and is in your house for a few hours. Whatever, I used it up.
- Repurchase? No.
Green Tree Palo Santo Incense Sticks (sample, 2 sticks) – This smells odd. It’s reminiscent of palo santo but there is an overdose of Sweet Tarts.
- Purchase? No.
Satya Golden Era Incense Sticks (sample, 2 sticks) – I honestly can’t remember what this smells like other than “hippie”.
- Purchase? No.
Neela Vermeire Creations Ashoka EDP (sample) – This is not my favorite from the line but it has grown on me. It’s a weird fig incense. Review here.
- Purchase? No.
Tambela Wild Chypre EDP (sample) – I have been in a moss mood. And this is a mossy fragrance that reminds me of a cabin in the woods surrounded by snow. Review here.
- Purchase? No. I like it but my moss moods are rare.
Bruno Fazzolari Au Dela EDP (sample) – This is such a great perfume for vintage lovers. It’s a gorgeous jasmine chypre. Review here. Also, it’s back in stock on the brand’s site. It’s permanent now!
- Purchase? I really like it but as you know, I can’t buy everything that I like.
BATH/BODY
In November, I finally emptied all the scented bath products that I enjoyed using in the summer. This is all pretty, warm citrus-y florals and invigorating scents.
Simply Scrub Organic Body Scrub in Soursop – This scrub is the most abrasive/heavy duty from this line. It smells like tea tree, peppermint and salt. It has oils that leave my skin feeling soft. This particular formula has grown on me but I still prefer the others in the line because of their scent. Review here.
- Purchase? No. Unless it’s in a gift set or something. I don’t dislike it. I just prefer the others.
Kneipp Pure Harmony Body Wash in Orange & Linden Blossom – I love this scent. It’s a citrus-heavy, tangy linden blossom. I love to layer it with Soap Distillery Elderflower Liqueur Body Oil for the ultimate in honeyed, citrus florals. The formula is good too.
- Repurchase? Yes. But, it is a scent that I tend to prefer more in the spring/summer.
Soap Distillery Elderflower Liqueur Soap – This is a tangy citrus/honeyed floral scent. The soap is good but less fragrant than the other products in the line such as the body oil (which I’m a major fan of).
- Repurchase? Maybe.
Thalia Daphne Soap – One of my favorite soaps in the world. It’s nice to have Turkish friends that send me care boxes of these.
- Repurchase? I don’t have to. They keep magically showing up at my door.
The Body Shop Hand Cream in Coconut – This used to be my favorite hand cream on the planet. It feels great and the coconut scent is OK. But, once again, I think I prefer scent-free products when it comes to hand creams.
- Repurchase? Probably not.
TonyMoly Peach Hand Cream – Here’s the last of the trio of boob/butt hand cream that I bought! I really do like this stuff.
- Repurchase? I may. I like unscented creams but this one is fun.
HAIR
My skin has been dry and so has my hair. Deep treatment masks are my homies.
Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque – My hair loves this formula. It works great for me. It smells great. Also, I’m so happy they’ve changed the packaging because this packaging sucks.
- Repurchase? Yes.
Cantu Intensive Repair Deep Treatment Masque – I don’t have curly hair but my hair loves this formula. I got two treatments from this packet. My hair was left ridiculously smooth and sleek for DAYS after I used this. I also like the fruity pineapple scent.
- Repurchase? Yes.
MAKEUP
NOTHING! I was very close to emptying a few things. I’m sure they’ll show up in the December Empties.
Total: 23. 17 full-size. 1 deluxe/travel samples. 5 samples.
What about you? Which products did you empty in November? Did you buy anything new?
*Amazon, Target, C.O. Bigelow and Memebox contain affiliate links. Thanks!
I barely emptied anything in November. I got a really nasty cold that hung around for ages and I just moped in bed and stopped wearing makeup and wore the same outfit every day for a week. Oops. I did manage to finish some soaps from Chagrin Valley Soap & Salve (love their simple castile soap) and a sample of CB I Hate Perfumes Smoky Tobacco. Other than that, nada.
I bought a buttload of lipstick in November (and just ordered more–I did get that Bite mattes collection in the tin!) so I need to get out of my no-makeup funk. I have lipsticks to use!! I’ve also been meaning to try a Snail mask. I know tons of people who swear by them.
I’m sorry. Hope you are feeling better!
I have bought so much lip stuff this year. I really need to scale back and use all the pretty stuff that I have.
I do think that Bite Mattes is a nice treat 🙂 It’s a good set of colors and I like the smaller size.
Snail slime is divine!
I emptied a lot in November!
The Different Company Jasmin de Nuit decant (have more).
Whole Foods 365 Fragrance Free Conditioner
Ajne Perfumes de Lavande decant
Lush Rose Jam Bubbleroon
Biehl Parfumkunstwerke EO01 decant
Mizon Snail Repair Eye Cream
Guerlain Cuir Beluga decant (don’t worry, I have more)
Providence Perfume Company Beauty Elixir Oil deluxe sample
Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum
Estee Lauder New Dimension Shape + Fill Expert Serum sample
Parfums d’Empire Aziyade decant
Annick Goutal Musc Nomade shower gel travel size
Archipelago Luna candle
Hermes Vetiver Tonka decant
Pacifica Waikiki Pikake soap
Chanel Bel Respiro decant
Frederic Malle Dries van Noten decant
As you can tell, I have been continuing my effort in emptying decants. I hadn’t worn Vetiver Tonka in a long time but have always regarded it highly. Well, it doesn’t work for me anymore, which is just fine. I also decided to pass on any more Dries van Noten. Something in it is just not right on my skin. The decants I will miss are Aziyade and Biehl EO01.
I’ll also miss the AG Musc Nomade shower gel, BUT I just ordered some in Myrrhe Ardente and Encens Flamboyante, so those should fill the void. I’m also sad that Pacifica doesn’t make the Pikake soap anymore. That was a great soap.
I will have to try the Kniepp shower gel that you used up, but like you said, I’ll wait til spring or summer. And that Thalia Daphne Soap sounds amazing!
You have tackled those decants! I’m impressed. This has been a similar goal for myself.
When I first tried Aziyade, it was 2008. I thought it was so dirty! The cumin was so strong. Tried it a few years later and absolutely loved it. Stories like this just encourage me to hoard samples 😉
Oh, where did you find those shower gels? I had Encens Flamboyante years ago and loved it.
I highly recommend the Kneipp shower gel but if you’re like me and are into seasonal scents, it is much better for spring/summer. I will repurchase then because it’s such a fresh “happy” floral.
Oops, meant to come back earlier to reply, but alas. I found the AG shower gels on Beautyspin (now Notino), but I think I snagged the last Encens. It looks like FragranceNet might have it too and even cheaper than I bought it for.
Yay! I’ll check it out.
